Do skis break alot on water ramps

depends on the size of the jump your hitting.. i hit the triple kicker a bunch last year and broke like 4 pairs a skis, but if you stick to the single you should be alright.. if they're not skis you care about i would suggest puting a few layers of fiberglass on them.

Idono what these guys are talking about but me and my buddes went about two weeks ago and he had invadernoodles and I had some scratches from 2 years back? and we didnt have any problem with ours.. and we both hit flat water with no bubbles.. one thing that I think might affect the ski is if you have any shots with exposed wood because water could seep in and rot it out.. speculation though.

yah they break often enough,

I've broken two pairs in one day, but I put a layer of fiber glass over a old pair of scratchs and they lasted 10 days so far. So fiber glass is the way to go

I highly doubt the same amount of water gets into your skis if your riding groomers or pow as they do if your swimming in a pool..

it depends on a few things:
you can fiberglass coat a pair of skis and make them ramp skis this can strengthen your skis becasue skis snap most commonly under your heelpeice as that is where the most impact with water will occur.
Landing backseat makes this worse in my experience tho ive broken a few pairs it can suck

Think about it man.

When you hit water, the underfoot of the ski sinks first, because of your weight, while the tips absorb the brunt of the impact, and flex a shitload.

Whereas on snow, your underfoot absorbs the impact and your skis dont flex too much unless you land backseat.

I've snapped about... 3 skis hitting a single kicker onto flat water and probably another 3 more hitting a double into flat. Don't use a ski you plan on using on snow again.

like three years ago when I weighed 130 pounds I broke skis on the smallest jump at the whistler water ramps. so yeah, they definitely break. bring some crappy old straight skis and you'll be good.

Any type of water ramp. I guess the aerials style jumps could be even worse. But any water ramp at all is going to fuck your skis if you go a lot. As some guys said above. When you land in the water, your underfoot will go down first and the tips and tails aren't going to sink as easily because there's no weight on them. I would not use good skis for water ramping. Find old shitty ones. Some people even use old mogul skis and such.

no idea if this is a good plan but you could buy straight skis from goodwill? i think straight skis would work better cause there skinnyer? if that makes sense i dont kno ive never hit a water ramp
