Do pros use the same skis as we?

as the title says, do they have the same stuff, or are their versions way stiffer? i mean it would somehow suck to hit 90-120 kickers ftrs all the time using something soft as ar6s or any true park ski they use in the movies...

the main thing is, i remember focused, seth morrison (you should remember too)! i hope hes not dropping 100+ftrs (not to forget the tricks, but it doesnt matter in this way) with something as noodly as that years seths.

lesser named pros and am's use the out of the box model.

As we know Pollard likes to make protos such as the prophet 150 so can be skiing on anything at any given time.

On your stiffness there is a stiffer version of the rossi candide around made for peter olenick at the x games pipe a few years ago. That ski is currently being ridden by fatman_media himself.

Anyway I wish pros would ride what they/was disigned for them becasue it defeats the purpose of calling it a pro model if the pro doesn't even use it

they use hover skis, it's like a ski that floats to increase airtime. but we aren't supposed to know about it.....shhhhhhh

its not like they always ride different versions, but tons of times pros are skiing on a prototypes with another skis graphics. Sometimes people do like a ski that woudnt be profitable to sell to the general public so the company just puts a current skis graphic on them.

I remember reading a freeskier buyers guide on pro models and there was a rumor that seth rides a souped up version of the ski that is sold in shops

I've wondered this as well. I think it varies. When Hugo Harrison was on rossignol, he rode 198 b-squads, a ski only available to the rossi team, for obvious reasons. Eric Hjorleifson rides the same ehp availabe to the public I believe. I only think this though because he's a small dude, and the 193's are MASSIVE. But he obviously makes up for it in tech, charging, and just overall skill. i don't have anything to back it up though, so correction is welcome.

ya most pros do not use the same ski. simon used a special version of next years dumonts for the qp record and pollard has rockered bacons. but any of the armada riders use the out of the box stuff but tanner's have the redbull bases but that is the only difference

Armada had to make TJ 5 pairs of pipe cleaners with metal underfoot cause the regular ones kept ripping out cause they suck. I remember a couple years ago when armada was all like "the pros ride the same skis that you're buying"... not anymore I guess.

But really pros do ussually ride the same skis as the mere mortals

depends on the company... alot of companies experiment with the riders and such. I need stiffer/more powerful chronics so line will shoot me somethin off the press, or sometimes ill use prototypes that i really enjoy. Other companies like vokl just give my brother stock next year stuff.

no, they use the exact same skis. your a fucking moron if you dont think you can hit a 100+ with soft skis. my roomate is such a dumbass he thought pros had "better bindings" that went up to like din 20, hes a moron. anyway, pros are just people who are better than you at skiing they dont have magnets in there skis or rocket packs on there boots. fuck.

Seth skis his the same as you buy in a store, don't believe everything you read. He'll tell you the same thing. You will see some pictures of him skiing some rockered AKs, but those were testing out rocker construction for the future Hellbent and obSETHed skis. But we take skis out of the box and send them right to him.

Most poeople use the same exact skis, or prototype versions

NOBODY on K2 gets anything that you can't buy in stores, unless it's just a prototype. Seth has always skied on the skis you can buy, which I have heard directly from him.

I ski with pros all of the time, there skis are no different than the ones you use. pollard doesnt count. and yea sometimes companies put different bases on there skis for pro during competitions (x games pipe) but generally when there skiing for the majority of the year, they just use skis off shelf.

hahaha right

i dont know with which pros hes riding, but i am talking about first class pros, like the 5-10 guys up front that really stand out from the rest.

i mean, i've gone 120 ft on a 65 ftr (wasnt that nice, didnt pop,too fast and done everything wrong), but still, my 05/06s ar5s didnt break and my bindings did well too, but i am pretty sure, that for obstacles like at the JOSS or CTI, i would greatly appreciate a top-quality ski with materials that are too expensive to sell them at stores.

i heard quite a while ago, that the old troublemakers (the ones with this greenish-blueish-topsheet and the eyes at the top) was not the best choice for dynastar riders. as i was told (in the probably first and best shop in mid-europe) they broke every once in a while shooting a 100ftr, up to 3 skis a day.

and to come back to argyle, i hit 80/90 ftrs too (no technical tricks, but still), and a lot of other guys here and we dont break our skis, but the pros that you might ski with wont hit bigger stuff than that all the time, i am talking about exceptional obstacles, super sessions, private parks, just extremely huge stuff.

pros are most likely on the same skis as we are, with the exception of broadcasted competitions etc, where companies will reveal their next year's model skis (like jon olsson and tanner at the x games) so people will notice a new graphic or design that they havent seen.

Surely, this is the time that you are going to want to know the exact flex and pop of the ski you're riding, changing the materials will change flex even if it is just slighty.

Dumont used a 07 ski with the CAP 08 topsheet i believe because he knows it better.

You have to remember, although the jumps are bigger than what we hit everyday, they are built way more perfect that what we get a chance to hit; so angles are spot on, which results in no more impact than what we suffer. even the huge stepdown (35m?) at JOSS was built so smooth it would have been beautiful to hit.

There really is no need to give the pro a better ski unless the company is doing something wrong, except maybe TJ who kept pulling out because of the mad tweak he gets...

In referance to the first post, people don't generally hit 120ft jumps on ar6's. That's chad's gap size, Tanner used Jp vs. Julien I believe. I can't think of a 120ft park jump either so......yeah.

Private park shoots the jumps are big but not I would assume pros wouldnt need a special flex ski for them.

People like Pep, Mahre have been on Hellbents and they are EXACTLY as what you would buy at your shop.

it also depends on of the company will let them go to the factory and custom make some ski. but if there big enough they usually have no prob with it.

are you THE will burks in ski movie 2? if so, that huge drop was the first real big one i saw in my life, and got me going for cliff drops

line makes stiffer chronics? wow, i should get out from behind the camera and make a promo, cause that sounds amazing.
