Do professional skiers ever pay for lift tix?

You decide

Having pros at your mountain is good for business. I'd be surprised if any places really care. Think about the team riders at different mountains, you want good people riding your hill. A pro riding there is a great skill wise and pretty much free advertising.

____ rides here at _______. Oh look _______ was out shredding the park today.

At first I was going to rip you to shreds. But I started thinking about it and that's a pretty good question. Not that pros never pay for tickets, but if they are sponsored by a hill, for example IRPC, do they have to pay for their tickets/pass or do they get them for free?

Once you are inducted into the special club of, "I know the right guy to ask for a ticket and he'll give me one." Then you don't have to pay for shit.

To give a real answer, ive noticed in Travelking circus episodes, they have comp tickets a lot. So theybdont pay for them. Line might pay for them, but im pretty sure it would be easy to get mountains to give them away.

I remember Tanner and his crew bitching (IN ALL CAPS!) about Breck or Keystone earlier this season because they wouldn't hook them up with free tickets. They ended up going back to Copper because they were clearly getting comped there. I guess it depends on which pro you are...

if they go for a photo shoot then no, If they live in that town and ski for that hill than no, other than that they have to pay for the ticket.

they might have to pay for the ticket but remember the top guys get travel budgets. So they might us that money to pay for the ticket. So technically no, i dont think so.

Scotty Lago got some free tickets to do back 1's off the lips to rails at sunday river a little bit ago. I was dissapoint

Unless theyre sponsored by a mountain and/or shoot video for the mountain (ie i ride park city edits) they probably bought a pass. Tons of "pros" buy epic passes every year.

As most stated if you are at a shoot for the mountain most are comped. Other wise you pay up front then expense that shit.

I'd say this only applied to about 5% of "pro" skiers. A lot of guys have travel budget but they don't wait it on lift tickets.

I think if theyre on the mountain team or terrain park team of a certain resort they dont , like de epic pass team

I'm wouldn't be surprised if guys like the LTC group get a company card from line for picking up lift tickets/gas.

they email ahead in advance and ask for tickets probably. it obviously wont work if they emailed the same place every weekend, but it will work since they bop around to so many hills

It fully depends on the mountain. Some are more than happy to comp tickets in exchange for some social media love or an edit while others are less inclined to give them out. Most of the time they are willing to work with you. The only mountain I have heard that just will not give out tickets is Timberline during the summer.

Yeah I was going to say, Timberline during the summer has to be one of the few. A tenth of the guys up there are pros haha. I remember Andy Perry telling me he was working in Govy for a pizza place to get a summer pass.

yeah there stinges at tline. but i see where they are coming from. where else are you gonna ski in the summer in north america? no where so they force you to buy a 60 dollar day pass or a 900 summer pass.

I was at a speech by Grete Eliassen and someone in the audience asked the question. She said that they can contact the PR department at the mountain and 99% of the time get a free ticket.

What I want to know is how they go about asking for the free tickets?

"Hey man, I'm [insert pro's name here], feel like just hookin it up today?"

I'm no expert on the Traveling Circus but I bet if Andy and his friends are filming for it, Line probably pays for tickets, skis, and gas and Orage and Full Tilt give them clothes. They probably pay for food and hotels on their own though or if they ever break down or need a tow they have to pay for that out of pocket.

more often than not it's more like they know someone up top in park crew there or have other connections

Thats because Andy Perry is dope as fuck if i'm not mistaken.

But seriously i would love to see the budget/ where all the money comes from and goes for Traveling Circus
