Do people really hate no poles this much.

Man he was obv angry or he wouldn't of made the post. And I wasn't "hating" on no polers I'm sick of the people bitchin about how they're being made fun of for doing it. Also they're was a reason I got smoked in the eye, it was cuz I was skiing in a terrain park. And if you think I'm a little bitch, as of right now I ride in Lutsen MN, Duluth MN, and Thunder Bay On, if your in the area ever, come find out how much of a bitch I am just PM me and I can show you, actually you can bring your whole crew to find out.

Anyways I said what I wanted to about that intial post, so I wont be postin in here again.

Imagine going with no poles and knocking 50cms off your skis and imagine how much flack you catch from people on these boards and all over the hill. If you sympathize with this guy, ask your self if harrassing skiboarders is legit.

haha i lost mah poles and havent felt like buying more but people if anthing just ask me where my poles are and i just say who cares haha

I personally used to think no poles was whack, and I would quietly say stupid stuff to my friends like "I'm gonna bring a giant bag of poles to park city and hand them out to all the gapers that left theirs at home", but I've grown out of the phase of caring so much about what people wear and what not, and now days I ski 99.99% of the time with poles, and take maybe 15 runs a season without them, just for fun. I did today, and japans never felt better

I would never yell at someone just for having no poles but i do think it doent look very good. Skiing was ment to be done with poles in your hands. I cant handle this new fad. Im sorry but im going insane... When did i become oldschool just cause i use poles.

ive always skied with poles since yesterday, when i let my poles at the base, juste because I was curious to try, and now, my poles will probably stay at home, because I loved it!

was riding no poles and some snowboarders asked where my poles where and i said i accidentally dropped them getting on the lift. then he asked if i had heard of tom wallisch and i said no and then he stopped talking to me

Haha man that's cheese. Basically, you just got roll with it bro. I have been doing the no poles thing for years now, and every single time I ride, you get chumps talkin' shit. I still hear it everyday, and we probably always will. That's the problem with our sport man, too many haters. It's the same as how everyone sizes you up the second they see you, so whatevs, just let your riding do the talking, and remember the most important thing...have fun! As long as you are having fun, nothing else really matters.

I agree with a bunch of you, 99% of no polers do look pretty awkward, but once you master the no arm flail, it's super steez.

And you have to remember, for the most part, the peeps doing all the talking are just little rich shits, decked out in new gear, following the trends, spinning with their arms, not progressing shit. Haha, that's how it is at Edelweiss anyway. But last time I checked, none of them were throwing handplants mid run, or having half the fun I have. So just turn your headphones up louder ya feel me?

Cheers & Beers

No poles always feels really comfortable but i noticed that balance can sometimes get out of whack unless you practise. I just think it takes a lot of style to pull it off and not look like a tool.

The thing is that the ones who shouts to get poles or plain hate only do it in the chairs... they don't have the balls to tell you in person, wich I find very funny.

I don't post much because there's too much crap to dig through on here, but I think he brings up a good point. Skiboarders get bashed all the time, and the most common reason they give is either "they're gay" or "they have no style without poles". Now some newschoolers are falling back to the roots (yeah, skiboarding in case you didn't know your history, the twin tips made before the first skiboards flopped horribly in the market, and it wasn't until the popularity of skiboarding came that twin tip skis started being successful) and ditching the poles. I know plenty of you say that you wouldn't give someone riding without poles crap, but what about a skiboarder? If you would, at what length does riding stop being gay and become cool? I'm so desperate to know, because I know I need to switch to something longer since these skiboards I'm on don't make me look cool enough on the mountain...

nothing to do now but ignore the flames.

If I saw a skiboarder that could actually throw down, I wouldn't give them flack. however, skiboards are not only stupid because they are useless on anything not groomed, but noone rides well with them. It's a completely different sport, and a lame one.

Ski how it means the most to you, and the haters don't even exist.

I don't care whether or not I can "pull off" skiing without poles. I may be the flailiest skier ever, but if I'm having fun and enjoying myself, it doesn't matter.

I've seeing a few riders here and there with no poles. I think it's cool. I don't hate on anyone without a reason and i still don't understand how some of you guys make blanket statements like "snowboarders are gay" or "skiboarding is gay" just because its different then you. keep an open mind.

I like most of your postings, but honestly why should the persons skill level dictate anything? If someone has fun skiboarding/snowboarding/skiing without poles, they shouldn't be ridiculed or patronized just because their skill level is low.

Sliding on snow is sliding on snow, no matter how you choose to do it, and I'm stoked for anyone who is out having a good time and enjoying the hill. Hell that guy in jeans and the starter jacket rocketing down the hill seemingly out of control may be just as into skiing and "core" as you.

Far too much hate these days in skiing and snowsports in general. Get out there, let others do what they like to do, and relax.

100 percent true. It was 3 a.m. and I had had a crappy night, so i'm gonna go ahead and retract that. I still think it's lame, but I hwouldn't ever call someone out for doing it, obviously they enjoy it for some reason.

i personally like no poles....especially on rails

and i personally think they look super sick on jumps

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEN

simple. It takes more skin off your back to harass someone and it shows that you either a) get beat at home and need a punching bag or b) you like wasting your breath and dissapointing people like glen plake, warren miller and real core motherfuckers who are to focused on how much fun they are having to lash at joeys.

well said skierx

The only reason I don't no pole is because lift lines at Summit tend to be on an up slope and it's a bitch to navigate the lift lines without poles...

other than that, I think no poles is fine.... you all need to quit bitching and focus on doing your own thing.

i am now a no poler just started like a week ago it kinda sucked when i got stuck in a bush and needed a pole to pop my ski off some guy had to throw me his pole so i could pop out since i couldn't reach my binding. Oh yeah and it sucks in the lift line bad real bad

racers is always gonna be jockin, an they the first cats you see bitin. rich lil fgs aint holdin no weight n pissin me off n shit. whateva just tell em to fuck the fuck off.

I think this debate has illicited some of the funniest and saddest comments I have seen on here. To be completely honest I haven't really been the biggest fan of poles. Besides having them on lift lines and in situations when you get stuck or need an extra push to get going they really just seem to get in the way. An extra piece of gear to carry around and pick up after a bad crash. However when learning to ski they are amazingly good at teaching your body where it needs to be to control your skiing. I never really thought of ditching my poles because I thought it looked kinda funny without them. Then like tons of other people on here I saw idea. After seeing guys have that much style (hand drags, grabs, and all around riding style) without poles I wanted to try it. I've skiied without poles before just to film and never felt it was to hard. So I ditched my poles on the first run of the season this year and will probably never pick them back up. I have more fun without them and personally feel like I have more freedom. Now with that said I convinced two of my friends to ditch the poles and one loves it and the other one had some trouble without them. So who really cares if you have poles or not. If you can ride without'em and like it then go for it and if you need them or like riding with them then do it. Get off each others backs and stop trying to act hard and tell people what they need to do. And who cares why they do it.

And for the record when I switched to skiing from snowboarding I started with skiboards. It sped up the learning process and after two days I was already pulling grabs off of jumps. I got bored with them after about 4 times because they seem a little limited and definitely less challenging then skis but if people wanna skiboard and it gets them out of the house then who cares.

i ski with no poles all the time. i personally think it looks sick, and don't give a fuck what other people think. my friends hate on it all the time, but whatever it feels so much more natural to me. it feels like im rollerblading, which is what i love about it.

yo emopoppins! next time we ski , ill rock no poles too and see if anyone says shit... it makes me seem like a douchebag but ive wanted to fight some gaper bitches/racers at sunday river for so long and get it on film

Haha this no pole thing is so funny. I have to say as a no poler I've seen it increase like crazy since idea. At Edelweiss at the opening of the season I was the only chump rolling no poles, and was getting so many weird looks and all the park rats were talking shit. Now, after about 25 days out there riding, not only have I seen a bunch more people doing it...including half those cats.

It's nice to see people broadening their horizons like that. Keep it up ya'll!

all this no-poles vs. poles is retarded. its purely based on preference. id rather have poles during pow and steeper stuff but i think poles in the park is just annoying

Well I rather see no poles then super mini poles. It's like " what the fuck are you doing you have to break your back to push" Ski however you want to ski everyone has opinions.

Skiing is a big fashion show and if you don't come dressed to the party like they think you should they are going to say something.

dude it's the same thing as you yelling at a racer for wearing spandex or for any other reason. You (or people who look like you) make fun of people who aren't like you, so they retaliate.

i feel kinda naked without my poles, but last year after i broke them i skiid without them for a few days and after a couple runs you get used to it and it can be kinda fun sometimes
