Do people ever ask you this if you say you are a skier who does trix and shit

I hear that question everyday I ski. also the one that goes like: why do you got twin edges on ur skis, or something familier to that question.

people aren't educated on freeskiing, so they go with what they see in movies, backflips.

the best answer is to say "no, but I can hit a 50 foot jump backwards, spin around twice, land backwards and make it look good."

ha ha yeah I had this one lady ride up with me and shes like "i gotta get me some of those, they look like theydd help you turn"

and i was just like uhhhhhhhh....?

i agree, people say can you do a backfilp, because thats the craziest thing they can think of. They dont know about corks and bios

nobody has ever asked me if I can do a backflip. I have been asked a bunch of times why i dont snowboard.

yea they always ask if you can backflip n shit i just say well i can but i don't, i like doing spins off axis, so then i have to go into the whole thing explaning what that is

If you can hit a 50 footer switch and spin 7s then you should be able to do a fucking backflip. Too many kids these days start shooting for the hottest tricks and spins without even being able to do a basic invert

i got some stuff at a store the other day and i had my ski stuff on. when i was about to leave she said"have fun snowboarding". you want to correct them, but i just said "thanks". u gotta give up explaining sometime

Thats good, real good.

All the people at my school think I do like moguls and others think I do arials and stuff. It sucks, because I was never able to explain to them that i dont do that. I would just say "I ski park, do rails and jumps." But most don't know what a rail is and assume that a jump is like an arial thing.

ya, somehow everyone at the HS I went to has been exposed to sking. It's real strange, cause we're over an hour from the mountains, so it's not like everyone skis, just I guess enough people do, and we made a name for ourselvs, so everyone understood it while we were there. Now, ton more kids ski and it's become one of the cool things at the school.

i've had conversations like this once or twice.

"why do your skis turn up in the back?"

"so i can ski backward."

"why would you want to ski backward?"

"um, it just helps for spinning and stuff."

"your bindings are in the middle of the ski."

"it helps with balance on spins and rails."

"wow. spinning...rails... like backflips?"

"yeah."

A few of the quotes i can remember off the top of my head:

"you mean like on those short skis?"

"you are too cool to be a skier"(i guess i could take that as a compliment)

"why dont you snowboard?"

it's not even just backflips either, tons of people don't even know that freeskiing exists. we gotta rep the sport more, i think pipe at vancouver might help a bit.

my greatest comment was this old lady who was behind me and was like, you know son, thats what the ski industry needs these days is something new and fresh to compete with those damn snowboarders. and then i got an a free economics lesson on the ski industry in the lift line.

haha no way man, my parents know all the lingo...my dad bought a pair of K2 twins (he tele's) so he could learn to ski backwards too

I went up on the lift once, and this guy stares right at my chronics and is like "wow, those must be old!", and i said they were 1 year old, and hes like "oh. they must not be from a very good company, because they dont have a shape to them or anything." he had a pair of racing skis on.

and people always ask if i can do backflips.

i was getting in the gondola and i put 1 of my skis in the holder and there wasent a spot for my other 1 so i brought it in..the 1 guy was all pissed cause it was in his way on the way up the gondola and finally he goes "why cant you put both of them in 1 slot" and i said "because they are twintips so they dont fit" and he goes "oh wow they must not be designed very well"

When i was at sun valley some stupid gaper was like "so are you doing that mogul thingy?" and i said "yeah and im doing the halfpipe competion too" and they said "oh so you snowboard too??" and im wtf and i say "uh no its a skiing halfpipe comp" and he is like "whoaa you're crazy!" it was one of the most insulting things ive ever heard.

why dont you snowboard?

can you do a back flip?

skiings gay?

are you going snowboarding?"dressed in my baggny jacket and pants"

when any one says anything to me that makes me think for one second. that they think skiing is not as good as snowboarding or they dont know what i do.

i instantly want to stab them in the eye and break the knife off!

i whent on a ski trip with my school and my friends were blows away that skied the hardest trail on the mountain (little mountain = easy hardest trail) backwards.

yeah i really hate the backflip thing..ill be like i can do switch 7s, underflips, lincolns, backflips, 9s......and theyll be like BACKFLIP WHATTTT

on the first day of the ski trip i was throwing 3's, and compared to other kids in my school im the best one because i liv ein new jersey, so people started spreading rumors that i can do double backflips and shit, and now people come up to me and ask me, "so wen are you gonna try a triple backflip?"

i was in the park doin grabs and shit and the kid says do a backflip. i said ok then left. idk ive been trying to teach as many people as possible about freesking like skiers can do rails wanna see? then show them shanghi six or my ski time mag

i had a skool ski trip recently and i shot past one of my teachers switch down the main hill (we werent allowed in the park which was gay cuz we went anyhow) and st the bottom of the hill he was like, "whats with all this backwards business, isnt skiing normal good enough for you". i didnt quite know how to tell a teacher to go fuck himself politely so i got on the lift and went back up

once some lady came up and asked if they were for learning how to ski, becasue you could ski backwards, and she was intent on her husband believe her until they witnessed my radness over the 55 footer. landing backwards takes tips on the tails, if you know what I mean.
