DO NOT GET YOUR SKIS MOUNTED AT VERTICAL DROP.

Ok so I went skiing last night at Perfects, and was having a good night until my skis

started acting weird. I kept releasing on my lead ski when I landed on

rails decently hard, but dealt with it because i figured I'd just turn

up my DIN later.

Later that night I come off a down rail switch, and fall forward and

completely eat shit. I take a look at my ski and my heelpiece is pulling out. So I take my broken ski down to the techies. $25, one day, and three helicoils.

No biggie, but still pissed.

Later that night I get a call. It's the techie. He says that instead of

the needed 4 holes for my heelpiece, there are 10. And to top it off the

wrong 6 holes AREN'T EVEN FILLED IN. My core had rotted from the inside

out and become fucking mush. Good job idiots.

Thanks, idiot techie, whoever you are.

Ok so I went and got my ski from the shop today. Looked at it and one pair of holes was like completely

freehanded and ridiculously off alignment. So pissed.

So I went to the Vertical Drop, who mounted them and complained. I got the

manager who kept insisting "no, no, no, that doesn't happen here, we

don't do that kind of work." The guy seemed to be implying that I went

home after they were mounted and took the heelpiece off and just

drilled holes for giggles. Or hey, maybe the drill fairies got ahold of

my ski, that could have happened, right?

I was nice about it until he kept implying that I DID that to my OWN

skis. Then I just went apeshit about it. I told him "So wait, youre

telling me that I worked my ass off for a whole summer to get these

skis, and you won't even own up to it and replace them?" to which he

replied "well thats your stoy"

Uhm... alright.

I mean really? He's not going to own up to the fact that someone at that shop messed it up?

So here's what he's going to do. He's going to remount them for free...

on a pair of skis with 10 holes in the back and a soggy core.

Yeah, that works super well, asshole.

FUCK Vertical Drop. If you value your skis, DO NOT TAKE YOUR SKIS THERE. EVER.

1st off, that really sucks. I hope they do something to get you new sticks
2nd, why wouldt you take it to perfects in the first place. They have some of the best, if not the best group of techs around. Always take your stuff to perfects. Even if it s a little more, they do realy good work. And if something like this does happen, im pretty sure they make it up to you.

I have bought all my skis and most of my gear from vertical drop and have never had an issue... maybe just some bad luck

That's shitty man. Did you go in there with receipts and he still gave you that shit? If someone told me that I fucked my skis up like that I would have gone off on him too.

that's the most bizarre thing i've heard of happening in a repair shop. i can personally guarantee that nothing wacky like that would ever happen here at snowtrails.

I used to work at vertical drop and they take their mounting very serious. I've never seen a problem and they always go out

of their way to make sure everyone is completely satisfied with their work.

Maybe the dude at perfects doing the helicoils fucked your skis up.. I'd trust the vertical drop techs to mount my skis, do binding work, or set back one of my dislocated shoulders. Sorry about your luck though...

No, I really dont think that was it. It just doesn't make that much sense for them to drill an extra set of holes and a pair of freehand ones at Perfects if all I needed was helicoils. Plus my binding pulled out for a reason, and I believe it was from the extra 6 unfilled holes. I have rossi SAS 140 bindings, those don't pull out in a matter of a couple months haha.
