Do most new skis come pre-waxed?

Just curious, because I know a lot of snowboards come pre-waxed from the factory. I just got a brand new pair of Line skis, and it feels like they might have a coat of wax on the bases, but I can't really tell for sure. If they're already waxed, I'd like to know so that I don't waste the time waxing them myself.

i thought you were suppose to wax all new skis? i remember hearing something about that? i never do, but i hears your suppose to.

Even though most skis come pre-waxed it's smart to put a coat on before you go skiing to protect the bases and to go faster (obviously).

I was told that all new skis come pre-waxed. Don't know if it was just someone saying so though.

its shitty wax... done by a machine.

want a better job done? do it yourself. If you look at most bases, after shipping, handling etc... the bases get pretty dry. so go nuts, waxer up!

its shitty wax through. buy and iron, some wax and some big rubber bands. then get to work.

I believe they do come pre-waxed, but I would get them waxed by your closest shop when you buy them...usually the factory wax is pretty, well, crappy

You should definetly get a wax. It is also smart to have your shop do like a new ski prep it just helps out alot because the edges that come on a factory tune is not that great

There's no point to sharpen them if they're park skis, the farctory tune is already too sharp for my liking

they are coated with a standard wax, but should be scraped and rewaxed before shreddage. Its kinda like a summer coat. (which everyone should do to protect your skis in the summer)

Even though it takes time, if I were you I'd still wax them myself. The factory wax is kinda like storage wax.

for brand new skis you'll probably want to do a couple hot scrapes on the base before putting any wax in.

most new skis have some pretty gnarly base burn from where the ceramic disc hit it when they were doing the final pass to sharpen the edges. from what i've seen, atomic and dynastar are the worst for this.
