Do k2 skis run true to length or run smaller or bigger!! +kkkkkkk

Im about 5'11 and weight around 140 or 145, i am getting the new 2013 K2 domains and i don't know if i should get the 174 or 179 length?? im more advanced on rails and jumps so i am not that much of a intermediate park skier?? anyone that knows get back to me

Older K2's used to run longer. For example - 179's would really measure like 183ish. For 2013 models a 174 or 179 measures exactly that high.
 
174 domain measures like a 176 t hall.

179 measures like a 181.

you would have fun on either. 179 if u want to progress on jumps/ hit large features. 174 if u spend 90% of your time on small rails. also consider sizing up if you might grow more, ski all mountain, etc.
 
I am the exact same hight/weight as you, and I'm gunna get the 179s. They do have a rocker so they will feel shorter than what they are. I am giant to use them for maybe 60/40 rails to jumps, with the occasional tree run tossed in there every once in a while.
 
not true at all based on the 2013 skis. my 2013 Iron Maidens are the same length as my buddies 183 sho guns, and they measure about 1.5cm bigger then my 183 blends. so the 179 are actually mor like a 184-185
 
Blends measure short. 179 Iron Maidens are 182.5/183 cm long using a straight tape tip to tail.
 
I have the 2012 domains 159, they are about 164cm for real. I guess the size is about 5cm longer than it actually says, dunno about this years domains tho.
 
sorry to thread jack but i'm looking for advice on skis ,

recoil or iron maiden ? im 5'7 130pounds ski 80% park (yay eastcost)

what size and reviews ?
 
k2 measures edge contact im pretty sure so they tent to run about 4-5 cm shorter than what they actually are.
 
My 179 Pettitors measure 179cm tall. I could be wrong, but based on that I thought all K2's would measure quite true to their stated size.
 
these two are the same. the iron maiden is the recoil build. 174 given your weight would be the easiest for you to ride, but if you advance/ hit big jumps, you may want the 179
 
ahhh , knew it , my friend kept on telling me they were a different ski ,

179 is pretty big , how much does the all mountain rocker take away from the ski ?

Since 2011 (clownbents) only their pow skis run true to size. Park skis still a bit taller than advertised, a 179 would be more of a 182-183.
 
Fair enough, but like I mentioned. The 179's Pettitors measure 179cm tall, so I thought that might apply to all their current skis, but turns out this isn't the case I guess :P
 
K2 skis are measured, as if the skis were straightened out. That means running a measuring tape from tip to tail, while in contact with the surface the whole time.

I don't know if that made sense.
 
Didn't read the whole thread yet so I'm not sure if the question has been answered yet, but ski companies rarely have the actual advertised length of their skis. Most companies measure the material before it goes into the press, so the length comes out a little different.

Anyway, AS FAR AS I KNOW, a few years ago K2 decided to make their POW SKIS ONLY true to size, and the park skis still run a bit long. My 174 recoils are actually more like 176.

Now a lot of other companies may run shorter, thats why my 174 k2's are the same length as my friend's 183 atomics.
