Do I need a narrower ski?

Yo everyone, I'm a fairly advanced skier. I mostly ski off piste but next season I want to focus more on learning and mastering basic tricks (360s, butters, rails etc...)

I currently have a pair of Prodigy 3.0 mounted -3.5cm from tc and I have a nice deal on a pair of Prodigy 1.0 that I could use as a "dedicated" jib ski.

How much of a difference would having a narrower ski make in learning new tricks? Would it be that much of a difference?

Or am I a pussy and should just use my 3.0?

I like narrower skis for jibbing. Lighter, more nimble, easier to set an edge and make fine adjustments. I learned how to jib back when "all-mountain" skis were ~80 mm under foot though and I still like that kinda feel.

rails destroy your edges so if you’re gonna be skiing a lot then just get the 1.0 as a dedicated pair for park. ct 3.0’s arent heavy but if you ski a lot and are looking to really learn then just pull the trigger on the 1.0s. it certainly doesnt really help to have a wider ski when learning park.

I think weight and flex are more important than width. Lighter softer skis are easier to throw around and butter on, but you’re sacrificing landing stability for that weight cut.

It depends on what you want to learn but 106 mm underfoot should be fine for most stuff except half pipe.

Length might be a factor.

It has been said already: rails will trash your edges so it might be worth it to have dedicated park skis just for that reason.

Fuck I forgot that 3.0s are only 106 underfoot, thought they were like 115. OP if you really feel the need to save money then don't buy the 1.0s, 106 is on the upper end of acceptable for learning park. If you're fine spending a bit of cash then pull the trigger on the 1.0s.
