so i got my new boots and they fit tight, so i took out the foot beds and they fit perfect. so i was wondering if they would be fine with out them or if i should mail them back for the bigger size???

go have them fitted, you definitely need a footbed (ok, you dont NEED a footbed, but trust me, your feet will thank you for using one). a bootfitter can grind down the footboard to drop your foot down in the shell. essentially the same thing that happened when you removed your footbed, but you wont lose the support.

I think that foot bed are a great idea. Although they do cost a little bit extra, they are a great way to take stress impacts off of your ankles, knees, and lower back. I always had knee problems before i had them, and now my knees feel invicible. It was an extremely drastic change for me. I would definetly suggest them if your willing to throw down the extra money.

^i dont think he was talking about custom footbeds
and to the guy two posts above: it sounded like it was a volume issue, as opposed to a length issue
probably try skiing in them a few times, and if it is unbearably tight, get them worked on

Cutom footbeds will give you way better shock absorption than any rubber or gel in a "freestyle" model boot. Get them - best money you can spend on ski gear.

That is normal. Ski your boots for a week or two. The liners will pack out and if they are actually tight then that will show up after they pack out. I'm pretty sure you just have no idea how boots are supposed to fit and thus are freaking out about something normal.
P.S. It's "matter" not "madder."

i was talking to a few guys at the shop and one of them works for Rossi. he said the sad truth in the ski industry is that they make amazing boots, but throw in shitty footbeds.

go out and get your boots fitted and some fiitbeds installed. your feet will thank you

i didnt have foot beds in my boot and when i tightened down my boots it compressed my arch and caused me alot of pain. Then i got an orthotic footbed for my cleats and i threw that into my boots and it solved all foot pain problems that i had about not having the proper arch support....and it cost me about 150

True, most boot manufacturers put fairly low quality footbeds in boots, thats why its a great idea to get custom ones. To the thread creator though, boots are supposed to fit tight, very tight in the case of a high performance boot, but they will pack out. I put custom footbeds in all my boots, but for instance i have to wait a few weeks for my new race boots before i get footbeds. Reason being is they will pack out, and if footbeds went in now, in 3 weeks they'd be too thin. Ski them tight, wait for them to pack out, and then work towards footbeds. The few weeks of possibly uncomfortable boots is well worth it in the long run.

re:custom footbeds i paid $150 for custom footbeds in 1994. that was big money then. i am still using the SAME ones. i ve had them in like 5 diffent boots (they were all the same model so they always fit). knock on wood-ive never had foot or knee problems and i think its because my feet were always supported correctly
