Do boxes F-up your edges?

I don't jib so this may sound like a stupid question, but I know that rails can mess up your edges. Thats why I avoid them. But do boxes mess up your edges too? cant afford new skis every year so gotta keep my current ones in good condition...

not as far as i know, the ones i have done are all smooth plastic, nothing to bang hard into or grab...

i guess it would depend if the box has metal on the sides or not, but boxes or rails are hard on edges, if your just starting look into an old used pair of ski to pratice with, then wait till next to try and pick up a used pair of twins cause it won't matter if the edges are all banged up cause your gona bang them up even more.

i dont think boxes are as hard on your skis as rails, but they are hard on skis no matter what.

there was this on box that was a down with a little kink on the end, kind of urban style, well that ripped the edge out of my touble makers. So it depends on the box.

Its only for decoration thats it and thats all

just don't be stupid like me and let your trailing ski catch on the front corner of the box. That will crack your edge hella quick.

boxes hurt my skis much more than conventional steel rails, boxes I land harder on, spin faster and am more comfortable.

Rails I ride on smooth and hold them more technically.

I can see the difference after sessions on boxes and rails when I am deburring and rounding/sharpening the edges.

All of the boxes here are steel around the sides with plastic (usually recessed0 in the middle.

You could session a flatbar endlessly with no problems, but a screw out of that box will end your day and your edges.

depends on the construction of the box, but you shouldnt care that much about you skis.

I don't think it does anything to your eadges besides dulling them a little, but that is to be expected when your sliding on something. That's like asking if your edges will dull if you slide on ice.

doing rails and boxes really wont 'fuck up' your skis too badly. just some dings and shit. like at night you can see sparks but like its not just denting and mauling your edges. go for it.

it shouldn't be too bad, but if you're serious about park skiing and rails, you'll have to let go of your skis soon
 
yea how bad do rails(not boxes) really mess up your edges? i just got new skis iam not trying to fuck up my skis right away...
 
Boxes are pretty hard on your edges since ther are two pieces of metal contacting your skis. One advantage is that the pressure isn't directly underfoot like with a rail.
