Do any kids under 16 even do big mountain?

I wish I could get to ski some big mountain. There's no chance of doing big mountain at our 'resort' which is less than 300 feet in vertical height. Maybe after senior secondary I'll go to the Alps for a month or so ;)

 
As shawnm1260 said, Baker is pretty much the only big mountain resort. Almost everyone of my friends (we're all 15) skies big mountain a lot more than they do park. There's nothing like it and park will nnever compare.

 
Thats kind of a stupid question to ask. Kids are just to yound to do that shit. first off could you remember back when you were 14? did your parents accually let you go out of bounds and hike for 4 hours, and second did you accually do that kind of shit. then how could a little kid afford a becon, have enough knowledge to saftley go into the backcountry, and how would you even know any hook-ups that could take you back there because im sure a bunch of kids wouldnt be smart enough to accually plan a trip out of bounds. if you are talking abotu in bounds, im sure there are plenty of kids that ski big mountain in bounds, they are just not old enough and experienced enough to make that trip into the backcountry. and lastley this site attracts kids who are mostly just park riders. you go to any mountain and ask the majority of people who are big mountain skiers and most would say they dont waste their time on this site. this site does have a strong park draw and that keeps a lot of big mountain skiers off

^ i hope that comment wasnt directed to me, because i am just simply saying that the best big mountain skiers i know dont like this site and dont spend any time on it, but all the kids that sit in the park spend a lot of time on here. just an observation that i have made.

 
most kids who have been skiing for their whole lives are very good at Big Mountain, but it's hard to learn if you dont start when your young. You just don't notice the kids who rip the mountain because there isn't a place that big mountain skiers all ski at like, like a terrain park. You have to look hard to find em.

 
i'm 15 and i prefer mountain over park anyday...but then again, i suck at park, so there you go...i pretty much only ski park if the conditions suck

Dude, If you never skiied anything over 50 degrees GO DO IT. Powder turns are better than most park hits, but i suck in park

Yeah, i dont know what the deal with everyone ragging on skiers for not doing big mountain. Any GOOD park skier (at least the ones i know) can rip big mountain as well as or better than the skiers who talk shit to them about not knowing how to ski.

dude, you think wisconsin is the only place i ski. i frequently take trips out west. normally i will get about 20 days of rocky mountian skiing in a year but this year i had to save up a little more money to afford a trip to whistler. just because i live in wisconsin doesnt mean i dont ski out west, its only a days drive to summit county and a nice little plane ride to utah. for what its worth i havent been able to ski a lot of Back country because i dont know a lot of locals that can show me around but i do ski the hardest shit i can find and huck the biggest cliffs i can find with lift access. ive skied in waist deep powder with 50 degree pitches. so just because i live in wisconsin doesnt limit me. i can only deel with what i am given

 
Yeah im 16 (just turned) and last year at this time i was in British Columbia Heli Skiing. I didint get into the park untill this year.

I luv pow! Got a chance to go to Silverton this past winter and it was orgasmic. Waste deep fresh everyday. Hiking the far peak is a fuckin bitch tho.

 
I used to be all big mountain and i can probably do any terrain you give me and I just switched over to newschool this year

I shred the pyrenees quite often,as parks are hard to find.I find them as challenging as the Rockies.Yeah,i love the Pyrenees.If you know where you're going you'll find powder and steep shit.Yeah!

in australia we dont have anything called big mountain. we get 10-20 powder days a year, and most of the season is spent carving groomers then finding a small cliff to jump off later in the day (our terain parks are gay)
