my friend was telling me about these things called isolation tanks. has anybody ever tried this? we were curious about it because, supposedly, they have these things at like spa's and places and you pay like 80 bucks for an hour or so

basically what the tank is is full of very dense salt water so a human will float in it. you're put in there and float on the service and relax as much as you can. its a form of meditation, so after about 30-45 minutes you lose control of all your senses and your body starts to believe it's dying, even though you're perfectly fine. then your brain releases dmt (look it up if you dont know what it is) and you trip for like 15-30 minutes before you wake up.

there was a simpsons episode where homer and lisa went in isolation tanks. i can't remember exactly what happened in the episode but homer went on a trip and people were moving the tank and he ended up on a crazy ride. the real things sounds ridiculous.
 
yeah ive heard of that but never seen a place that actually does this. it would probably be easier just to get some dmt and smoke it
 
i dont know about the whole dying part, but the water is kept at body temperature. they are sensory depravation tanks and after a while you brain waves start to change from alpha and beta to theta which is what happens right before you fall asleep/wake up.
i have always wanted to try it. apparently if you lay down and put white ping pong balls over your eyes and listen to white noise through noise canceling headphones you will experience something almost identical to an isolation tank.
 
ive heard that as well, but isolation tanks are different because your skin is surrounded by the water pressure making it a bit different. also if you do it the ghetto way you need to be in a room that is almost exactly at your body temperature.
 
that's sweet, but it seems like it's missing a part of the isolation tank experience. the water temp and saltiness is supposed to create a lack of physical feeling in addition to the darkness and silence.

I've been there. I was laying in bed about to fall a sleep and my body went to sleep but my mind was still aware. It felt like I had two bodies, one six inches above the other. Only lasted a few seconds because I realized what was happening and I fell back into one body.
 
my ex roommate bought a bunch of that shit off of the internet, he wanted to smoke it from this lightbulb pipe that he made, but he was too much of a pussy to guinea pig it. Erowid says its gnar gnar.
 
Yeah ive wanted to go into an isolation tank high on boomers for a while, but i haven't even though there are four different isolation tank centers within 30 minutes of me.
 
reminds me of this room they made that absorbs like 99% of all sound so you cant even hear people speaking inside it. so you start to hear your own body function and your heart beating and all that shit and it can make your brain do weird trippy things. people cant stay in them longer than ~45 minutes though because it makes you go crazy or something. terrible explanation i know.

So in other words youre paying $80 for a dmt trip? Id rather just pay $10 for some real dmt and get the same experience.
 
I'm familiar with isolation tanks through Joe Rogan, but i don't know about the brain releasing DMT while inside. Try it and report back
 
i went on the website and watched the tour and stuff, seems cool but i dont know if i wanna spend 75 bucks for it

I hear Rogan talk about it a bunch. To guy who bumped it, I would like to hear more about the experience. Spill the beans..
 
Seeing Joe Rogan on the 26th in NJ. And just saw Duncan in Brooklyn. And Ari Shaffir a few months back. Glad I found podcast.
 
whole foods mix of fuji and gala, i really like fuji but every once and a while you get a gala that makes you stop and say, whoa thats good.

buy locally grown apples. most supermarket apples (not whole foods obvi) have a thin layer of wax coating, meaning they were probably picked months ago. save yaself, get that organic pink lady
 
It's about time I tripped again. It's been a few months and my life has definitely changed since the last time.
 
i havent heard about the tripping, ive heard it just deprives the body of all sensory stimuli, and after a while you feel like a disembodied brain
