I built a DIY Steadicam for my HV20, but just upgraded to an XHA1, and I've found my old one can't handle the weight.

I skimmed around youtube looking for some designs, but i was wondering if anyone on the forum has built one for a bigger camera such as an XHA1, or DVX

can u post a picture of what u have now? i also just got that camera how do u like it? its about 5x the weight of my GL2 the GL feels like a toy now.

I'll get a picture of it up soon. I've used the GL2 a bunch of times, and the XHA1 really is in another world. There's a reason it wasn't called the GL3. The custom color presets, iris ring, kelvin white balance control, not to mention zoom ring, variable frame rates, and aspect guidelines, set the camera aside from anything else within it's price range.

It's fucking awesome. good choice of camera mr PaPaCraig. +karma.

google the 14 dollar guide. it has a few tips for bigger cameras, like making a bigger plate to have it rest on, adding some weight and length to the bars.

dvxuser was actually surprisingly not helpful. I think i'm just going to create my own design. We'll see how it goes....

no i didn't. It's really nice to have a small camera that i can take with me anywhere. It's also a perfect tape deck and B camera for the xha1. i loves my hv20.
