Diy steadicam help

okay so i made my own steadicam, its made out of a bike rim and i just used the traxxas rc car U joint as the gimbal, i have been messing around with the counter weights for over an hour now and i cant seem to get the dynamic balance right. can anyone help? ill post a video later on of me using it, it just sways all over the place.

It seems to be working pretty well. As stated numerous times on this thread, Steadycams are just as much about the actual object as the person operating said steadycam. You have to learn the quirks of each individual steadycam. Keep working with yours and I think you'll get the shots you desire.
 
Run around with it, jerking it around with one hand doesn't really test much ha
 
just add more weight on the bottom.

continue to do so until when you jerk it to the side, the camera doesn't tilt, the top and bottom move evenly together.
 
i couldn't say because i don't know what your rig feels like, etc. just until it levels out with the movement and the top and bottom move together.
