aright so i searched and couldnt find anything with my problem. on the diving board i can do 1.5s, gainers, lincolns n such, but my friends say that when i flip i look like i am sitting in a chair hahaha....i was wondering if you guys had any clues on how to make your jumps on the diving board look more stylish. oh yeah im really tall and gangly too hahaha. also any tips on how to do tricks like rodeos would be cool too. anyways plus karma to good answers

do a lincoln with more of a backflip and look backwards about half way through fro the 540... i cant do em yet but thats how ive been taught if im wrong correct me

Ha join your school dive team! That's what i did lol and it worked pretty well. Well, when you're doin' fronts, you want to chase your knees into a tuck, so you're fully tucked at half a flip, also you want to tuck with your knees close together. Hope this helps. This will also make you spin a ton faster.

Also, afterbang underwater.

hahah well im in college now so i cant do that but i dont have a problem getting the rotations at all...its just making it look good haha...i wanted to know if you guys had any style tips/grabs or something which i imagine sounds super gay but whatever hahah

you shouldn't afterbang on land or underwater... hah but lay it out, or throw a grab in there. bow and arrows are fun with rodeos. laid out gainers are dope too

Rodeo 5s are the best to throw off diving boards, i love them! ha im tall and very gangly aswell and i think i no wat u mean, i think i do the same... i have no idea aye! but just throw urself, its only water, try them off 1m spring boards and they are mellow as!

i had the same problem with backflips on tramps, just pop and then really focus on thrusting out your waist/dick while flipping for the laid out steeze

for corks grab mute and tweak the fuck out of it, like just pull as hard as you can and you will spin so fast and styley. for rodeos try doing boned out nos grabs they are the easiest to make look good and if your doing a backflip/ gainer try to touch your feet to the back of your head in the air and u will lay it out so gang

Tweak and arch your back to spot your landing harder. Try practicing some actual diving tricks. I used to be on my highschools diving team and learned how to truly dive and it improved my skill exponentially. Get your 2's, inverse, pikes, double fulls etc on lock and then watch your style

i had the same problem. the way i fixed it was to focus on tucking and putting my hands on my knees. i assume you probably put ur hands on ur ass when it looks like your sitting on a chair? try putting your hands on your knees or right below your knees. should fix the problem in no time

That's called a cowboy. You tuck super hard with bent knees, spread your knees a little and tuck your head. It was started in floor gymnastics to protect your head and neck in flips, as well as add style and speed.

I was on my schools dive team all four years. As for practice, I did 2 things that helped me SO MUCH:

1. Go to a tramp gym, if you can find one. On the running tramp (the long, skinny one), do various rolls. Cowboy drops, peanut rolls. Ask a coach for some examples. It will help you learn the positions you need to be in.

If you can't find a gym, practice cowboy drops on a friends big trampoline. Bend in half and drop onto your back in the position I described above. You'll need some momentum so you can flip back onto your feet from your back.

2. This was the most helpful thing I did in diving: After you figure out how to do the dive you want to do, go to the edge of the pool and drape your elbows in the gutter or over the edge. Practice the exact movements you need to do in your dive over and over again. Practice tucks, straight dive positions, and arms. MEMORIZE the EXACT MUSCLES you engage.

If you are doing a pike, for example, bend in half. Remember the way your hamstrings pulled and how flexed your quads were. Remember how tightly you had to hold your abs in order to hold the position. Remember what your upper back did and how you used your arms.

Muscle memory will be your best friend and core strength are your best friends when it comes to diving.

Good luck! PM me if you have any questions.
