Ditch FKS?

I've had a lot of problems with these bindings like brakes are totally bent, hole in the heel piece, and heel piece acts up. Should I change to a different binding or get another pair. I currently ride vokl ledges

If you have problems with a binding then I wouldn't stick with it. Look into STH2 and Attacks.

I have always been a huge advocate for FKS but recently quality has gone downhill on them. The new metal is lighter, but also easier to crack especially in the half moon piece. Older pairs I have had no issues with. With that said, if you have been unhappy with them I would never point you in the direction of markers BUT salomon makes a pretty burly binding as well…the sth16 steel are definitely one of the burliest bindings out there…the same can be said for most of the salomon sth driver toes

tyrolia peak 15 if you can find them, the ones with these toes that they still use on the 18 din atttack bnding

I got these exact ones but mojo 15s, they're sick!

If you're not happy with a product, then by all means buy something else. People on here seem to laud Pivot series bindings and put them on a pedestal; personally, I'm not a huge fan.

Try STHs, you might like them more.

I'd skip right to the peak 18x's. I have both the 15's and the 18's and I prefer the 18's 100%. I'm not really happy with the performance of the 15's like coming out of the binding for landing back seat or even in the air with the dins at 14. The peak 18x's are heavier but are extremely durable and reliable.

hole in the heel piece,

This is one of the flaws in the FKS that nobody talks about. Pole tips wear on the plastic and eventually you end up with a hole. Water and gunk gets into the spring housing and you start to get weird releases.

It's one of the most important things to look for when buying old race bindings, since racers usually have really sharp pole tips.

I don't even use my poles to snap out haha. Don't how it happened

This sounds like a problem maybe with forward pressure or possibly a manufaucturing defect because the 15 and 18 are, correct me if I'm wrong, the same exact binding with different din ranges. If you have two of the same bindings, even of different din ranges, and they are set at the same din, they should release in the same way in the same situations.

With the FKS/Pivot you get a lower quality toe in the lower din models, but Tyrolia (used to be) baller enough to use the same bomber toe on the 18 and 15 (and I think even a 12 or 13 din one iirc). Also with the fks you have to really make sure you get all the snow off the bottom of your boots, and this can be a real pain when you are trying to get your skis at a sketchy entrance of a line or if you bailed and aren't in a good spot to try and get the snow off. And there is an issue with the brakes, and the plastic baseplate. Don't get me wrong, I adore the feel of my FKS when I'm skiing them, nothing beats it, but they just have a few very off-putting quirks.

If your only 130 there should be no need to pop up into a 18 din binding.

Your forward pressures are wrong. I have had the 12's, 13's (SP) and the 15's and I'm 6'4 and 220, never had an issue with them when you set them up properly. The forward pressure on the Peak series heal on the Tyrollia needs to very tight.

I've also had the Race version of the 13's with the lateral heal on them and never had any issues when laying it down at mach speed.
