Distance From Home Mountain

I'm curious as to how far people are from their home mountain. Like how long does it take you to get there? Are there a lot of weekend warriors on this site, or do most people on NS live close to their mountains?

20 mins, its only a 100m hill so, no mountain.....So closest mountain to me is 15 hours to Banff.

I am about 3 hours with no snow on the ground. WIth snow on the roads it can vary from a 3 to 7 hour drive. When it really storms I usually have to stay home and wait for it do die down. I LIve in SF and Ski at boreal/northstar/Sugar Bowl which are my "home" mountains. I do a lot of day trips. I only get up around 12 to 20 days a year. More then some but still disappointing

20 min from my driveway to the mountain I ride the most.

And 1.5 - 3.5 hours each way to the other mountains I drive to.

about 2 hours to my home mountain theres one a little closer like an 1.5 hours but it's smaller and not as good

about 25 minutes away from my local hill, couple hours from actual mountain and a plane ride from REAL MOUNTAIN

5 minutes from 2 local hills, 45mins-1hour to my 'home mountain'. Got 20+ ski hills within a 2 hour drive.

It's about 10 min from my house to the hill then 25 min from work to the hill.

About 16 hours to the closest mountain i've been to which is red lodge.

an hour to mountain creek in NJ from my house in NY, 40 minutes when I leave straight from class.. It is 90 minutes to the Catskill resorts but I need to be able to night ski. So NJ it is.

5 min from Oak Mt.

I'm improving at that. Was only 1 min from Cranmore when I lived in NH. Before that it was 45-1:15 errrday for mountains. It's nice to be close, especially when the roads are shit.

Closest one worth going to is about 45 minutes away. And even that's a stretch, the ones I usually go to are upwards of two or three hours...

>15 Minute walk in which my hands usually obtain pneumonia because I forget to put gloves on everytime>35 Minute train

>Sprint 300M catching the bus as it leaves literally 1 minute before train gets in

>Usually miss bus and have to walk another 20 minutes

>Hitch lift hoping not be murdered

>Usually end up meeting awesome people

>Profit

I live about 30 minutes from the nearest hill. It isn't the best so if I actually want to ski something good, I'll travel roughly an hour and a half to the next closest.

10 minute drive from frequented ditch-based hill.

3 1/2 hrs. from the biggest resort in the Prairies.

1 1/2 days from a real mountain.

25 minutes to my home mountain (Pajarito)

1.5 hours to the 3 closest mountains (Taos, Angel Fire, Sipapu)

~2:20 to wolf creek

5 hours to summit county depending on road conditions. Not too bad.

About 30 to my little home mountain, but then ive got sun valley and the SLC Utah resorts between 1.5 and 3 hours away

Holla. Boulder was my home mountain last year. Mountain Creek will probably be this year.

About 90 minutes from a variety of mountains in the Poconos. Plan on being a weekend warrior since I work full-time and then ball out for another 2 weeks at MHSSC over the Summer for a 'fix.'

About 10 minutes to the mountain I work at... 5-7 if I speed. About 1.5 hours to boulder/frost in the poconos

Its about a 2 hour drive to my home hill, so I can only go on weekends, which sucks. Backyard jibbing takes up time during the week, so I get a bit more time on skis.
