Dissapointed in Kanyes West's New Album

Seriously i dont know why he would make his voice in the whole album in autotune, it wrecked it. i like a lot of his old stuff but now he barely even rapped in his new album and just sang, i dont know why he would step away from the style of his old stuff.
 
yeah man from all the leaked stuff i've heard he doesn't even rap. i don't get it....it was even a gradual transition, he seemed to have just said fuck rapping i'm gonna sing with a synthesizer. idk
 
he isnt selling out at all..... no one will like any of that, except heartless everything ive heard is complete diahrea, shit couldnt even describe it
 
ANYONE can sound good with vocoding. pitch-matching is used extensively in pop music to give shitty singers like britney spears a good voice.

but this whole t-pain thing is ruining the vocoder sound, which I really love if used appropriately.

Even though no (smart) people will like it, it IS selling out. He noticed that all the people making money right now are autotune fools, so he followed.
 
he used to do it for his love of rapping and liking to make beats and lyrics, but now hes just in it for the money
 
It's only better than Akon's new album where every song uses the vocalizer exclusively and sounds exactly the same.
 
personally i thought it was the shit...like i downloaded the leak and loved it so much i bought it this am... its so different and unique..the lyrics are the shit and his voice sounds so good auto tune..

jus listen to it, and give it a chance...
 
i like it. i feel sorry for those who don't, but i'm not gonna hate on you for it, it's personal opinion and taste. i like this kind of music, a lot of it isn't rap but it is very electro-style and i'm a huge fan of electronica.
 
i guess i can respect that. my problem is the people who try to tell me its rap cuz its not. i'm glad you like it and stick with it though
 
It's funny.. I'm never disappointed with Kanye West because I never have even the slightest expectation of quality from him.
 
it's not supposed to be a rap album, it's a pop album.

plus, the autotune isn't being used for pitch correction, IMO he's using it as an effect-like a guitarist would.

to each his own.
 
dont remember where i read it but he said that he released this album for him and he doesnt care if it sells or not it was something he wanted to do.. also i know he has got another comming out begining of next year...
 
I havn't heard any of Kaye's new stuff but I'm really not impressed by anything he's done, i used to be swayed by the cool background rhythms and loops but frankly his lyrics are fucking terrible, he's just an extremely stuck up vain person, and i'm just sick of hearing him rap about how fly his clothes are. If you wanna hear some good hiphop stop fooling around with these shitty sellouts and get some Tribe Called Quest of Heiroglyphics or acid rain drops.

I'll talk shit about Kanye all day, he's a cocky asshole who thinks he's the hottest shit since the one in '02 after far too much Taco Bell. He can't rap for shit, he doesn't talk about anything of any value whatsoever, and yet he thinks he is the voice of my generation? Fuck that prick. Untalented, stuck-up, and obnoxious does not a respectable MC make, and I'm sure this new album only drives home that point.
 
Maybe he'll switch it up like weezy and make studio albums but release mixtapes of freestyles on beats and whole mixtapes of just autotune. I can see where he thinks he could be very profitbale from a full album of Autotune because if you listen to tha radio that is whats hot right now.
 
agreed, I used to really respect his style but now he's the biggest sellout ever and he's a little bitch ass spoiled brat. such a fag if you really think about it
 
yeah the vocoder is so overdone now. lil wayne used it, t-pain did, and then kanye did a whole album with it. its so annoying now
 
to me, your describing every "mainstream" rap artist right now, I love kanye(no homo) and think he is doing a sick job, like previously stated, to each his own, but dont go calling out one person when almost every other artist is doing the same thing
 
fool... it's the complete opposite of selling out. Selling out is changing your sound to make something more appealing to the masses, something that will sell more. Most typical close-minded rap music fans won't like the sound of this album, and it's way too dark different for typical pop music fans. He was inspired by stuff like old Phil Collins on this record, not pop like Britney Spears and shit. He took a chance and tried something different with this one = not selling out. He will also be releasing a "conventional" rap album pretty soon, so thats that.
 
he ment to make this one in all autotone because he wanted to. He's coming out with a new ablum soon thats the usual kanye shit so dont worry. Don't judge him on this album cuz he really didnt care what people thought of this one. Gaurentee his next will dominate
 
yeah dude i was wondering the exact same thing, why is everysong in that weird "autotone" voice i guess you called it... its cool for a few song but not a whole album, but im not totally disapointed because i though the the ROBOCOP song was absolutly amazing, i listen to it like 5 times a day i dont know why its just soo good

I was going for why he's good but if you don't like hip hop to begin with then I guess you wouldn't get it.
 
actually i love hip hop. i guess to each their own. in my opinion kanye is horrible at what he does not to mention he is the cockiest person on the planet. kanye sucks.
 
For the record, this album is horrible... so fucking bad. It's not hip hop, it's a combination of all that is pop/wrong in music right now. I hate it and want to slap Kanye a million times. Graduation was a step in the wrong direction towards the pop shit, but I still dug it.

808's and heartbreak... think about that for a second. He titled it that. Did he do it on purpose?
 
To each their own, like was said before. I'm not gonna tell you your opinion is wrong, I mean I can groove to some of those beats, just would much rather hear kanye do what he used to do, I love his old shit.
 
Like others have said earlier on, to each his own. Honestly this album is along the lines of portishead, zero 7, thom yorke/radio head other similar styles of music. Listen to this next two songs and tell me this is rap or is copying tpain. . .The autotune is not even overused in these songs other than true pitch correction since he is not a singer. If you like the above groups ive listed, or that style of music, you will prolly like this album.

This new album isnt any good. But, when he actually raps and puts out freestyles he is golden. And then to top off, he can put on a performance like no other. Within the past year I have seen Lil Wayne, Kanye, and Lupe all live. (Some of the top rappers today). And Kanye killed it so much harder live then the other two.
