Dislocated knee?

well, sliding into third in a tight game of baseball during my portfolio class, my back leg seemed to get kinda caught up and twisted underneath myself. The end result was a distinct popping feeling, a locking period of a few seconds of intense pain, and then another popping feeling and the pain subsiding a bitsy.

now it is super stiff and I can't twist it the way I over extended it.

1. what did I do?

2. how can i fix it.

besides RICE

RICE is about all you really need. Go get xrays to make sure nothing chipped/fractured and eventually an MRI if it doesn't get better. I've dislocated my left patella many times, first few times were a pain in the ass, but I RICE'd it and 3 or so weeks later, all set.

be glad it's only 3 weeks. First time I did it, I tore my ACL too. I've been out of comission for sports (hockey and lacrosse) for 5 years now because of multiple ACL surgeries.

yea no joke, if you take it real easy you should be back at it in under a month. I went back after a week and a half and now i get random knee pain

now did a doctor tell you that it was dislocated, or are you guessing?

cause a popping sound is a pretty big sign pointing to ACL. sorry bud. where does it hurt now? if it's at the back, feels like the top of your calf... then I would suggest getting an MRI asap.

but let's hope it's not!!!

yup. what she said. the way you described how you felt when you "dislocated" your knee sounds exactly the way i felt when i tore mine. it had immediate pain, but it went away pretty quickly and it was just really unstable. yea man get an MRI as soon as you can and ice the hell out of your knee meanwhile.. go to the doc, for sure. and watch it closely to see how swollen it gets... teh more swollen, the worse it might be..

1) you most likely put your knee cap out of place

2) put it in a brace, maybe see a doctor if its bothering you
