wow, where did that come from? I rember looking up to snowboarders cause of there style but now that i watch the pipe finals there was only 2 guys riping with style(shawn white, and some othe guy) the jugest where most impressed by athletes hucking 1080s not more then 5 feet out of the pipe with no style at all? thats not what i thought snowboarding was.

this year was a definate break through for skiing...

agreed... i thought the snowboarders still had our number in the pipe... but that comp would seem to indicate otherwise...

werd . . . I only saw a couple qualifying runs for the boarders, but they didn't even compare to what candide and cr were doing. I think it's safe to say we've caught up with boarders in the pipe, and on the slopestyle course for that matter.

ya snowboard comps are too fun to watch anymore (except us open its ok) all the good ppl arent in them. i hope the good skiers dont become anti-comp like some boarders.

yea i think we still have aways to go, its just that lots of the best are just riding, no comps, and for some not even video parts.

ill actually agree, too...the only good runs i saw were the top two...its hard after watching them in the olympics go off...same with watching skiing after the WSI, though. they make a big deal about 1080s, but most of them look like hucked shit...hopefully we won't turn back into huckers like our fathers seem to be doing.

yeah, that one guy 1080ed and didnt go over two feet out of the pipe. that makes snowboarding look like pussy shit. unless a skiers wearing skis up to his nipples, were going to need a shit load of air for a 1080.

i agree with everything that's been said so far. I also want to add that a lot of the snowboarders in the slopestyle looked all over the place. a lot of arms were flailing and they weren't looking very smooth. also the rail tricks were pathetic. i maybe saw one 270 on and no 270s off. i know it was the qualifier on tonight but the ski slopestyle was a lot more interesting.

skiers dominated the pipe, end of story

yeah skiers dominated the pipe and probably will dominate the slopestyle too, most of the snowboarders except for the top 3 dont have much style and they dont spin onto rails at all, i think skiing has definitely progressed ahead of snowboarding in pipe and slopestyle this year

I talked about a buncha snowboarders about this and they thought the exact opposite, it mayu just be a matter of interests.. on another matter, what do you think is harder spinning on skis or spinning on snowboards, I have a little battle going on with the the boarders at my hill, they think its easier to spin on skis, yet one of them can do 5's off the gorund.. what do you think??

the snowboarders who said the opposite are probably in denial that what were once those gay skiers, stole all the spotlight from them. i was truely dissapointed with snowbaorder slopestyle and halfpipe. and partially it is because the greats are anti-xgames. but come on.

-jon, skiing the ice so the other half of the country doesnt have to.

it seems like they weren't even tryingin the pipe.. i mean kass' runs to win the gold before were awesome.. but he only threw like 1 move he used in those runs..overall i think previous years were more tech and more stylie.. the thing that pisses me off tho is the announcers trying to call their next move.. then when they switch up their run they're all like.. oh they did a different trick

Smoking pot leads to uhh... I forget.

All of the boarders finished there spins in the pipe. most of the 1080s were 900's with a shitty landing. I wasnt very impressed with the air they were getting. Its also funny that all those guys got beat by a 16 year old kid. Sean White is awesome at snowboarding but its still funny.

My girlfriend told me to shove my skis up my ass

i guess...its too bad its still more tech than skiing right now...a lotta that shit is switch, fs and bs....

Yes, Candide and CR blew them out of the water with style and amplitude.

Yes, their spins were crappy and finished on snow most of the time.

However, I've seen much much better from some of those that competed, and other boarders. To say we've progressed beyond boarders in the pipe is a little much. To say we blew them out of the water at the x-games, is more on target! I'm proud to be a skier, that's all I know.

LOL my friends say skiers suck in the pipe (there all boarders) but they should watch what they say

The only place we don't match or surpass boarders is on rails, we arent even close there, dont knwo if we ever will be

Well, to be fair, there are a ton of different ways to jib on a snowboard, 50-50, fs bs, bs bs, nose presses, tail presses, and JP Walker is working on nose and tail slides. And you can do all of those things switch too. Though didn't Pollard stomp a nose slide on skis in the current Axis? Snowboarders don't spin in/spin out nearly as much, and I saw some pretty gay grabs off of rails. -100 style points when you grab off the rail. I will agree, it's easier to spin on a board, but much harder to land. Your landing base is about 50% less stable on a board.
