DIN settings

Just got a new pair of pow skis mounted, and when I got them back I saw that my DINs were set to 10.

I'm a level III skier, 5'10" and 160 lbs. I do a lot of charging and hucking.

I used to have my DINs set at 7 or 8, but I've gained about 10 lbs since then. Does that really account for a 2 DIN increase?

I could imagine somone like you skiing at a din of 10, but I could never imagine a shop setting it that high, they would usually set it 6/7/8.

Well you dont say your boot size, but guessing that your either a 26 or 27 then a level 3 would have you on 8. Maybe call up the shop and confirm they actually set your Dins and did not just leave them on what they were on out of the box.

Does seem a bit high for a shop to set, but in terms of weather you could ski it only you know that. I would probably go back to about 8 then work up from there if you are pre realesing.

Nope that weight change will make minimal if any affect on your recommended DIN setting. The calculator I look at groups 148 - 174lbs together but it isn't something I would go by for anything other than a general idea.

What you don't want to forget with DIN is the role BSL plays, so if your feet have also grown that will decrease the recommended.

Post ur weight, height and boot sole length and age and i can tell you what you should be set at. But you shouldn't be a 10, even if uhave small feet

^ we have already done it, he is more then lickly a 8 unless he has huge or really small feet. However as a 3+ skier he would be a 9.5 so that may be why the shop set them at about 10.

I know we have an idea but I feel special when I use the chart which is why I wanted to know bsl and age. If he's 9 or 50, most likely not,but this is ns, stranger things have happened,it could change his din. Even if he came to a 9.5 legally shops won't round up, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen. But I know what ur saying tho, just like to be precise, as dumb as that sounds lol

are you serious right now? how much mor eod you know about this person then what he posted in this thread?

have you seen him ski? I could imagine me skiing at a 18 also but I dont.

I wasn't commenting on what he should ski at, merely to emphasize that the shop had set it too high, apologies.
