DIN Settings??? up to 12 or to 14?????????

I just got a pair of mojo 80's and having a really hard time deciding what type of bindings to get and with what max DIN setting.

I was looking at Look PX 12 Jib/Ti. These are around 100-170 give or take where you look (online retailers or ebay). A friend of mine says to pony up and get the Rossi or Look with a DIN setting of 14 which cost about 100 more!!

Do i really need this type of binding or is max DIN 12 a decent binding to go with, specifically the Looks?

Also, does it matter if i get a manufacturers "freestyle" bindings, eg Look px12 jib or Rossi Scratch as opposed to another binding with a DIN or 12 or 14. Another way to ask this question is, are bindings made to take the impact of landing jumps or for racing, or does it not matter?

My abilities, i got 3's down and go off almost all kickers at mtn parks. I ski mostly at keystone/breck and vail. If someone tell me if the extra two DIN settings really make a difference i would appreciate it.

depends on your weight, and no u dont need the "freestyle specific" theyre pretty much all the same. i am selling some look p14s with the DIN to 14 for 125 shipped, like new.
 
No, you do not need the din up to 14. Definitely not. You sound kind of like me, I'm about 175ish and I have been skiing on look nova 11s, aka bindings that were worse than the ones you are on, with my din at 7, and they worked. Also, the freestyle binding version is almost exactly the same. Most of the time, the only differnece is that there is not a lifter on the freestyle version.
 
^ if u weigh 175 and were skiing look novas u must ski pretty wizzeak. but watever, usually bindings with higher dins r burlier and will last u longer.
 
no i dont ski weak. I probably ski harder than you do. Its not like they release the instant they do hard turns. They aren't bad bindings.
 
yo i way 120 and have my bindings at 10 and they still come off on the crashes they should come off on...i dont even know why i said that but what ev
 
i would cop the p 14s if i was you. and i think if youre gonna ride park 7 is a good din for most people, and at your level i would stick by that. novas are pieces of donkey poo. sorry man. and to the kid who is 135 and releses at 10 your forward pressure must be fucked up cause im 145 and dont relese at 7.
 
I don't know man, I ski at Whistler now and have been spinning 5's over some of the pretty big jumps there, and my bindings are set at 6. I am pretty light (about 140), but my point is, for freestyle skiing I think a din of 14 will just rip your knees apart.

On powder days, my JP vs Juliens are set a little higher than that, but it's definently not necciassary for straight park skiing.

Start slightly lower than you think you might need and see if you have problems with it snapping off to early, if you don't, it'll just be better on your knees and you'll reduce the risk of tearing your ACL.
 
i am 175 lbs and ride at a din of 9, so I could get away with a 12 din, but I got a good deal on some 14 dins which generally are built more durable. get those p14s from npm, for 125 for a 14 din binding you cant really go wrong. and no, the freestyle specific bindings dont really make a difference.
 
all i need is a 12 max with the bindings set at 10. ive dropped 15 footers to near flat. hit big features in the park and ski hard and they dont ever release prematurely.
 
watever he bought my p14s, good choice. and the watever his name with the bird icon, i release on my fks 120s on a wipe and theyre at 9...and i weigh 125 lbs. but watever.
 
dude, with fks bindings there is no adjustment. the forward pressure is where it should be. its not all about weight and all that. but funny landings happen
 
um, okay, sure. anyways, im saying mine r at 9, the foeward pressure is correct, and theyre perfect. not guna debate it
 
Well personally, I don't really like my DIN to be that high. I'd rather prerelease a couple of times than have a torn ACL.
