Din setting

Yo i was wondering what din setting i should be using . I ski park and my skill level would be beginner to intermediate. i weigh about 130 pounds and i am 5'8. Please get back to me.Thanks.

longer boot=more leverage to pry your heel piece up. i would say around 5 or 6. but please go to a shop, your knees will love you if you do

OK, go to a shop give them height weight and everything they ask for. Tell them that your a beginner but you are skiing park. park skiing will boost your din a bit so you don't wanna just say beginner intermediate. Just tell them what kind of stuff you do they will set it.
If you find your ski is coming off when it shouldn't a lot. raise your din by a 0.5. then try it. repeat process till you don't prerelease. This should only be done if you know what your doing, know when your ski should release and when it shouldn't, and are will to accept the consequences of blowing your knee cause you messed up.
NOTE: Bumpin up your DIN does not make you cool, a lot of people do it who shouldn't, and it can be an expensive mistake.
...sort of like cigarettes lol

on a beginner intermediate that weighs 130 pounds? are you high? do you want this kid to destroy his knees?

honestly it should be 5 max. when you get better or bigger crank them up slightly.

to calculate your din......start by going finding your height/weight in the first column. if not on the same line go with the higher one. now.... go down 1 skier code for a Type II skier go down 2 skier codes for a Type III skier (no such thing as III+... go higher at your own risk) go down 1 skier code if you are under 10 years old or over 50 years old then look on the heel of your boot and find your boot sole length. find your skier code row and boot sole length column and then there is your din....
but you should really have a shop torque out your system to make sure everything works properly.

also....
Skier Type:Type 1 - Cautious skiing at lighter release/retention settings. Skiers who designate themselves "1" must accept a narrower margin of retention in order to gain a wider margin of release.

Type 2 - Average/moderate skiing at average release/retention settings. Skiers who designate themselves "2" must accept a balanced compromise between release and retention.

Type 3 - Aggressive, higher speed skiing at higher release/retention settings. Skers who designate themselves "3" must accept a narrower margin of release in order to gain a wider margin of retention.

Well i'm 5'8-9, 130, and an expert skier and I'm set by a shop at 6.5 and I barely come out. I'd say 4-5 if your really a beginner. Maybe 5.5.

But seriously, GO TO A SHOP! $20-30 for a mount/adjustment is a lot cheaper than months of rehab for your torn acl

I weigh about 150 and am 6' and at first had my dins at like 7. before anybody says anything my dad traveled with the world cup ski racers mounting and tuning there skis and he set them there. but during a pipe comp my skis kept coming off so we cranked them up to like a nine or a ten but it depends on how hard you are skiing.
if you are a beginner 5 or 6 is a good number for you

Yeah im 190 5'8 yeah im a fatass, but my din is at 6, but all of my friends keep theres at 9 or higher and there smaller, i always yell at them and there like blah blah blah, then one of my dudes was throwing a kangaroo flip yeah claim claim yeah i know but his din was at 14 and he landing awkward and his din didnt release and he tore his acl, so now they all put there dins at where theyre supposed to be. lesson learned for them ha

im 150 ibs and ride at 6.5 but frequently pop out when skiing hard or even dropping in. is there really any more of a risk or would it be safe to increase my din

im kida retarded but when u say down do u mean like a-> b because if thats true my dins should be unreasonably high

Because if i land switch on a jump bigger than like 30 ft i need some extra pressure there, learned that like 3-4 years ago at high north, did a 5 on the 60ft and double ejected on landing haha turned them up to 12 and it didnt happen again.
