DIN Setting?

So what do all you crank it down to? i rode at 8 last year but i just got a set of sol p16's and the lowest Din is 9.

I hand never paid much atention to DIN before this season but whats the rule on whats best? is it by weight?

weight, how you ski, what you ski. I had all my skis at 10 last season, I weigh 190. I'm going to try my park skis at 8, if you're trying new stuff, having skis release can be beneficial. But my pow skis and steeps skis will stay high because losing a ski is more of an issue.

salomons are s916, not p16...p refers to the pivot heel of rossi/look bindings. regardless, 916s are a dope binding, i have a few pairs myself. id say right around 10-12 is good, depending on size/ability. i got mine all the way up to 16 cos they kept releasing at 14. my rossignol pro 180s are at 16 too. im gonna break my knees soon, but hey, at least im not gonna release.

your right... my bad.

they are for a pair of 191 world cup solomon's w/ plates so anything steep and solid. i weight about 165 so i'm thinking around 10-12 for starters

I keep mine around 10-11 on racestocks. I'm 165ish at the moment.

The factors that go into proper din setting are;

boot size

height

weight

skill level

Since skill level is so subjective I don't think there is a real specific din for anyone, unless they are a complete beginner.

Just get a feel for it, never run your dins close to the top or bottom of the range (they will not work properly in this range) so if your binding is 9-18 dont run 10- or 17+

If your bindings EVER release unintended you need to bump them up a notch or two, but if you take the most gnarly tomahawk crash and they don't come off, they might be a little too high or they just wern't tweaked the right way. It's very subjective I keep mine higher than what I feel they need to be because I'd rather risk a knee injury than risk a binding pre-releasing on me when I'm maching and die.

well, my DIN is at 10 on my rossi and look bindings, its perfect for me. but i've noticed that people with Salomon bindings always have their DIN set waaaay higher than people that have rossi/look bindings...coincidence?

Thought DIN was a calculation not just a dial up and see. Is it some sort of pissing contest, the more din the more man points?

Youll all look really gangsta with the hobble from ripping your knees to bits when your skis dont come off

Some people feel more comfortable with a higher din, some people feel they are more hardcore with it, some people actually need it with the stuff they ski.

I like my knees where they are, and if I get into super deep and steep stuff, I'll turn it up then.

But for park and inbounds steeps, I'll keep it where it is.

i've got mine set to 7-8, no problems whatsoever.

i hope you morons that crank your dins up because it's 'the oh so cool thing to do' break your legs.
