DIN + Mute grab

This weekend had a pretty tweaked mute in the pipe grabed closer to my binding than tip and my ski came off in my hand. My DIN is at 12 on a brand new binding!

This happen to anyone and was it freak occurance or become regular happening? Any thoughts?

that will happen on any binding, you side released it. when you tweak mutes try to put less pressure in the direction of a side release, hard to explain but if you look at your boot in the ski and look at how you tweak it you'll see what i mean

Thanks BC and Bike for helpful answers...and I always appreciate the NS comedian responses as well. ACL is for sure a concern in a fall situation. This on the other hand concerns me because it was in much more of a controlled setting where I can gauge the tweak of the grab (didn't seem like it was enough where I should have released) vs. a knee tweaking fall where, yes I do want to release and save my ACL.

They max at 12 and the shop set them there...they know me but I didn't ask them to set them anywhere specific.

what bindings do you have? i think its already been said that p12s have separate tightening screws for lateral movement

I have those too. You need to tighten up the heelpiece because it moves around andcan take your ski off if its loose.

yeah i pulled my ski off doing a mute on a hip. the thing was that i wasnt even tweaking it and the din is at 9 on my p12's...
