din at 6....im fuckin pissed

maybe you should try to not start ur 3s so early dumbass. wait till u leave the ground till u spin. u dont need to throw 3s that hard... its ur own fault

Ok, so when you fill out the info to have your bindings mounted, you MUST give your height, weight, age, and skier type. The tech will use your height, weight, age, and bootsole length, along with age which is only really applicable if you're 50+, to find your DIN setting. It's really not all that complicated.

Your DIN setting of 6 makes perfect sense if you put down your skier type as 1(beginner) , and have a bootsole length of between 311-330 mm.

If you were retarded and put yourself down as a type 1 skier, you deserve what you got. If you put yourself down as something else, your shop sucks. If you didn't put anything down, and your shop forgot to ask you, then you're all retarded.

This thread is over.

Bahahaha... or, you could call it the 'elitist snob' cult. Anyways, my family already owns a country club, so no thanks.

i work at a shop and the techs cant just put the din at anything they want. they have to look at a chart that says exactly what to set the din at. the store has to do that because if they set them to high and you get hurt and go sue them theyre screwed. just put it up yourself. its not that hard

'just be who you be'

ok ok ok, i did not i repeat... DID NOT put myself down as a type 1 skier. i put fuckin 3 which is what i am. i even gave myself like 7 pounds just so they would put it a lil higher. now i know they have to follow the chart but its the fact that i did ask them to put it higher(even though they cant) and they somehow put it fuckin lower. now out here in ny the jumps are tiny and i spin fast. so i like the shit tight. but im just complaining about the fact that when i recieved the skis i took 2 runs and the second one ended in a knee injury. fuck it ill heel. let this fuckin thread die.

'age which is only really applicable if you're 50+'

Or, starting this year, age 9 or below will also drop your skier code one level.

serious u coulda just cranked the din, it doesnt sound that far off except they prob thoguht u were trumping yourself up and only put u down as an intermediate.

'i just rented good will hunting , how is it?'

'lets put it this way, even matt damon cant make it suck.'

'matt damon? hes in con air right?'

'yes , yes he is.'

I'm 5'7, 170, mine are set at 8.5 and they never come off, when my skis come off that's when I end up getting hurt, like when you land switch off a big kicker and double eject I can't think of a much worse feeling then that, that just sucks and it's really dangerous.

DIN is calculated using your height(or weight), whichever is lower, your age, your skier ability, and last but not least, your boot sole length. long boot soles equal lower DIN values. your DIN is probably at 6 cause you've got a huge foot. have the shop check your forward pressure. moving your weight up 7 pounds may make no difference - the weight ranges are fairly large.

i'm surprised you have a race binding if you are not setting your DIN yourself. and that setting is super low for the spring range on a race binding.

all in all, sorry to hear you got injured...

what is this so called 'race binding' you are using? b/c no race bindings go to 5. and find out your boot sole length. it's usually stamped right into the side of the heel. or else use a tape measure and measure it in millimeters.

I am 5'11'' 175lbs 3+ on the chart and they set mine at 9-10...that is fucked up! Is the plus and minus system new everywhere.

Used to be 1,2, or 3

Now 0, -1, 1, 2, 3, 3+ ...or very close to that

You all need to quit bitching and adjust the DIN yourself if you don't like it

i just wanted to pipe in and say you probally suck nuts at skiing. i'm 6'3' and 175lbs and ski like 5.5... and i spin 5s with no problem at all. get better at skiing before cranking up your bindings or you will REALLY fuck up your knees... not just bang them on the snow.

the reason your din is low is you probally have a big foot. that causes your din to go down.

^^^tandan - a race binidng and a race stock binding are two very different things... and yes some 'race' bindings do go down to 5.

^^gabeski - no the +/- system has been recognized by most companies for at least a decade now... and the major companies only recognize -1 (or 0, same thing), 1, 2, 3 and 3+.

and to everyone else, adjusting the din on your bindings (if you are not a certified technician for that specific company) voids all warranties and conditions for safe operation. that is if you were to get injured or cause an injury because the binding failed or broke and something did not match whatever your recorded release check stated you are plumb out of luck... you would be paying not the company... just a friendly reminder. oh, and release checks are sufficient for up to 2 years.

saying what your din is at and that it works fine for u isnt going to help anyone, it dosent mean anything. it all depends what bindings u have. if someone has like rossi fkss, then they can ride and lower din and rarely pop out compared to someone whose on like some shitty old, or cheap bindings

ehh its a tyrolia carbon d9. its prolly just a race stock and ^^ you know ur shit man. and pt 2 to this mess is that i adjusted the front....but not the back din so when i went to do a 180 the other day i ejected on the landing and it fucked my brake up bad. so i had to bend the shit back. look shitty but ahh well
