Digital Camera?

I wanna take pics of my friends with a digital camera. What's a good one to start out with that's under $300 but has above 3 megapixels?

 
the kodak DX6440 is like $299 5MP with a 3x optical zoom. It seems like a pretty decent camera, the only thing I don't like about it is the internal memory which won't let you print directly from a memory card. You other choice I would say is the Canon Powershot A70 which is like 4MP, and I currently have a canon and they're pretty good.
