Digital camera or camcorder?

I've decided to buy either a new digital camera or camcorder, but need help deciding which would be the better buy. I've got about $1000 to spend so it will be either a Minolta Dimage 7Hi still camera or a used VX1000 or GL1/GL2.

I've already got a 2Mp Canon S200 still camera, so I don't know whether to upgrade the the 7Hi, or get a camcorder and still have ths S200 for stills.

Thoughts?

OK, cool, I'll go for the camcorder. TRV900, VX1000 and GL1 look my best bets I think - I'll be looking on eBay and camera shops for good deals on used stuff.
