Ive worked at a few shops and dealt with some folks with the same issue, in the future when you need new boots try to get in contact with a company directly (or at least the local rep). I know Full Tilt, Salomon, and Tecnica all will take care of you, they always hooked people up with different size boots so they didnt have to do what you did. We always mounted their skis free as well to help out
