Difference between the newer no pivot looks to older pivot looks.

other than the heel piece pivot point what is the main difference.

are the no models better, or more durable...

the old pivot heal was good but the technology was lacking. for that type of system with a pivot heal to really work, you would need a pivot toe and heal. hence the line binding, but we all know how the line binding turned out. the new look or rossi bindings are good. better forward pressure and less likely to get fucked up on switch landings if you bail.

The main difference is that there aren't buckets of broken PX10/12/14s in tech shops all over North America.

word listen to him. The new ones have a more consistant release at odd angles, increased foward pressure for better conection to the ski, and they still have a huge amout of travel which stops prereleases. Some people are just hesitant about change or still attached to their old pivots.

Don't all the Rossi/Look toe pieces have lateral and upward release though? I'm pretty sure about the lateral release.

When I talked to my Rossi rep, he said that the engineers saw the benefits of a higher forward pressure to outweigh the benefits of a pivoting heelpiece. So essentially, there isn't anything wrong with the older pivot style heel pieces based on my rep's statement. They did keep the turntable bindings for their race stock...

There's also the issue of the arms on the heel piece. On the older pivot style bindings, the arm could technically get in the way if the heel of your boot wanted to slide out. With the new PX and Axial2 bindings, there's room for the heel if your boot wants to slide out.

Anybody have any definitive answers cause it doesn't seem like anybody is sure about the pros and cons between the two bindings.

yes there is lateral and up release but he was saying for a heel pivot to be fully effective (no odd release angle) the toe piece would have to pivot as well. Thats what line tried to do but as we all know they kept breaking. Theres very little wrong with pivots theyre a great binding. The px/ axial 2 are just new upgrades take it or leave it at that.

I like the old Pivots better, but alot of people like the new PX, and the Reactor was supposed to address the twisting falls, but the toes don't release vertically, so if you land straight and backseat, you can break a leg or something.

Anybody ever consider a Look/Rossi pivot heel with a Salomon toe piece? The Solly toe piece having the pivoting ball...

Wonder if that'd work.

The biggest advantage of the pivot compared to the px is that the pivot would not slide back and release when landing switch, like a standard track binding does. The increases forward pressure on the px addresses this to some degree, but will still slide back under hard impact.

The px releases more consistantly from all angles which makes it slightly safer. It is all about trade offs and prefferances, but the only way to make good educated choices is to get out there and ride different equipment. Then you will know what you like and you don't.

And remember, nothing is perfect. The FKS bindings for instance dont release upward (except 120), and wing solly's prerelease if not adjusted properly and rechecked daily.

Hey sorry for trying to take over the topic but i got the new look 2007 Look PX 12 Ti JIB Park/Freeride Bindings are they any good i havent been able to ski them yet cus i rboke my ankle 2 weeks ago

my rossi axial 110 powers toe moved..i dont know if it was just that binding but on one crazy bail i had the toepeice moved completly sideways...all i had to do was press it a little and it went back to normal but i ont dont

i love my p12's.. in fact i didnt buy a new pair of bindins this eyar, just becasue i like mine so much!.. if i bought another pair i wouldnt get the px's id go for the races or p18's or whatever the shit has the 360 degree heel piece

I've seen a lot of PX bashing...i sure as hell hope they are fine seeing as myself and pretty much everyone else on this site picked up a pair off sac

nothing at all.. i just liek the swively bindings !

but yea looks and rossis all the way.. fuck salomon

Yeah, I have 3 pairs of them myself, and was a bit skeptical when they ditched their old pivot design.

I now have 2 pairs of the new PX/Axial2 bindings and I find that they're actually more responsive than their older counterpart.

Give em a try if you can... ;)
