DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STIFF AND SOFT

what is the diference between stiff and soft skis. i know vaguely about it but it has never bothered me but now i want to know?

Belongs in gear talk, but whatever, I feel like being serious right now.

Soft skis are more playful, so you can press on rails, boxes, and you can do nose/tail butters on them if the tips and tails are soft enough.

Stiff skis are more forgiving. They're more stable on bigger features and are more stable landing on two feet without landing on the tips and tails of the skis, that would normally cause you to crash and burn.

I wouldnt call stiff skis forgiving...more like stable and solid. Forgiving skis in my mind are softer, thus allowing you to correct little mistakes either in the park, trees, bc, groomers ect.

stiff is when your wiener gets all hard. soft is when it isn't.

I knew there would be at least one penis joke in this thread. Well played Fry, well played..

Aside from the fact that this should have been in gear talk, thanks for the post, cause I never check gear talk and I'm too lazy to google my questions. Been wondering about this for a while.

Id recommend a soft ski to someone who jibs a lot and likes to press and butter. They're pretty good for smaller features and getting creative on tranny's.

Stiff skis would be better suited on bigger jumps and high speed features. Like they said above, they are more stable and prevent washing out a little better.

Weight and height always play a big role in what ski to choose too.

Stiffer skis give you more stability at higher speeds especially when you're charging lines. Soft skis give you a lot more playfulness in general. Can do presses and butters a lot easier. Stiff park skis are gonna give you a lot more stability on jumps, though. They can take deep impacts a lot better than a soft ski can.

Stiff = FIS World Cup Factory Race Skis.

Stiff skis have little room for error. Once you've got an edge held or in the apex of your turn there's no going back! They're also stable at high speeds
