Difference between CO and Mammoth

I just moved to Cali and haven't skied Mammoth yet (yeah I should be ashamed) and I need to know what the difference is between it and the Resorts in CO. None of this 'night and day' shit I want specifics (if possible) about the park and the big mountain skiing in the area. I need to know what to train for. I mostly skied Breck and Vail and some Copper in CO.

 
mammoths park is really and it also has some really good big mountain... everythings there

so train for everything

 
mammoth fucking kicks ass. the park especially is gonna give your average Colorado resort a severe rectal shafting. it has great big mountain too the only problem is you get quite a few warmer storms coming through which sometimes leaves heavier snow which you will grow to call 'Sierra Cement'. All in all the place is great.

ive never been to colorado, but its hard to imagine anything better than mammoth

I don't know, I think Colorado has many terrain features that Mammoth just can't match. I mean no park in the world is equal to Mammoth's so that out of the question, but I'll still take a 20' pow day at Crested Butte, skiing the extremes over cordoroy any day. Besides I wouldn't want to ski at Mammoth because I HATE PARK RATS!!!

OK, there are a bunch of people jumping on the Mammoth bandwagon. Is Mammoth the best park in the world? Yes. Is the rest of the skiing world years behind? Hells no. Brecks pipe is kept in perfect shape. Look at footy of comps there, the tranny on their pipe is perfect, and its not just for the comps. and they've got some innovative welders and shit too. Oh, and ask Clausen or anybody else in the Mammoth area, nightlife sucks bawls in the ML area.

Train for hostile mexican gang members, so pack a small gun that is easy to hide in your jacket pocket. Be a sharp shooter and you should be fine.

Brecks park is just crazy, better than whistlers and im sure close to mammoth, then you have abasin for some great steeps, vail and breck arent crazy steep but you can find ways to challenge yourself and definitely have a blast.

mammoth is an all around great mountain but i think co would be better for big mountain because the snow is lighter

Colorado is sick, Mammoth is sick. If you want warm weather, sunny days, big jumps, and be surrounded by pros, go to Mammoth. If you want to have good snow, some sunny days, kinda windy sometimes, and dodge tourists with $5000 ski setups that get used a week out of the year, come to Colorado.

Both are sick places, but it really depends on the $$$. If you have the funds, either is sick, if you are low on funds, cali is much cheaper than colorado.

Somtimes I just like to sit back and allow all the ignorant people in this world easily ammuse me. Other times they just piss me off.

 
i ski mammoth all the time and have also been to CO and both are insane if your comparing to Breck the pipe is even. The park in mammoth has better jumps but breck has better rails but if you want rails go to big bear and no place in the world can compare to there rails. Mammoths park jumps are a bit bigger but the extra X factor that Mammoth has is all the pros and the amount of sunny days.

You have to get used to the snow in particular the pow in Cali cus it is heavier which isnt a bad thing just get used to cus its a lot harder to ski if you can ski cali pow you can ski pow anywhere.

CO has the advantage in big mtn. skiing over mammoth but then again if you count that tahoe is only 3 hours north and youre talking about squaw, alpine, and kirkwood then your right up there with and combo in CO.

Nightlife is way better in CO mammoth is beyong dead.

But if you live near tahoe you have reno which is crazy nightlife but thats three hours away from Mammoth so the edge goes to CO.

Basically either place is awesome and you should be just as happy out here as back in CO.

sure mammoth has a sick park, but if you knew anything you would know that it's one of the nastiest mountains in north america to ski. it easily stacks up with jackson and whistler/blackcomb as far as all inbounds skiing goes. it blows most of colorado out of the water. it dumps more there than anywhere in CO. it's like utah, but much fucking cooler.

with mammoth you get the terrain of the best, mixed with the park of the best, mixed with the lamest ski town in the middle of nowhere with no females and a shitload of snowboarders

so basically, unless you can't live anywhere except for some ritzy town like vail or aspen, then mammoth is not for you. but if you want to sacrifice being able to do alot of cool shit outside of skiing for living at the dopest mountain in the US with all your close skiing friends, then move your ass out to cali for one of the longest, most insane seasons of your life

^^ true that. but in co you have like 8 more mtns to choose from, and they are all really close together, and in whistler, you can get to the hill with ease.

go to mammoth is you want to ski nov - june/july maybe. Mammoth has the most sunny days of anywhere - a storm can blow through, leave 3 feet of fresh, and it will be perfect calm blurbird the next day. Mammoth is sick too because you take a 8 min gondi ride to the top, bust out some steeps, haul ass down to the park and hit all the jumps, then hit up the gondi again. watch out for the mixis tho - they will run you down in thier brand new $40,000 truck that they payed with with all thier coke and meth

I was out at Whistler last year and I was talking to a guy who was talking about a Mexican invasion week at a western resport (don't remember where though), it was kinda funny, he was saying they would be cruising the greens, out of control, and then be done by noon and back at the hotels for their 'siesta', but then out and about again raising hell all night.
