Diesel trucks

Diesel's are so nice because of the power. Only bad part is that they cost more to fix because parts are more expensive. Another down side with a diesel is they are heavy and I've noticed they get stuck alot easier than a Gasser. Most diesels last for ever compared to gas. Also you have to worry about your fuel jelling but you can fix that with a additive and the newish ones have def fluid but you can take that off... It's a shame I don't see more diesels or just trucks in general at the hill. Not positive but I'm pretty sure Sean Jordan has a white 6.7 2500, lifted on 35's

A good buddy of mine has a 2010 1 ton dually diesel full load, paid $70k, thing didn't even have automatic climate control or backup sensors. interior is pretty meh. He also was getting horrible mileage so he tried to chip it, made it worse. He eventually took it to a diesel performance shop, and they chipped it and removed some sensors and shit, now the thing halls ass and gets 17L/100km pulling 4 place sled trailer at 130k/hour haha.

Cooled seats are pretty much the greatest thing ever put in a vehicle.

My dad's got an 03' GMC 2500 with the Duramax and it's been mostly pretty solid. He's had to do the injectors a couple of times, but I'm pretty sure he's got between 300-400k kilometres on it, maybe more?

It blows my mind how much new trucks are and can't fathom how people justify going $70k+ in debt on something that is only going to depreciate. I'm in southern Alberta, so pretty much every other truck is one of these:

It is ridiculous how much they are. Notice how the number of lifted trucks all douche canoed out grew since the lifts and all that shit could be financed. Then they only keep it for a year or so and get rid of it and loose $20k

Oh for sure. I get needing a truck if you're out in the oilfield or on a farm or something (which all these guys are around here), but please tell me how your 12" lift and chrome 24" wheels with mediocre tread helps you in the field. Also, there's no way I'm climbing into the leather interior of a $80k truck in my oilfield gear, but maybe that's just me?

Also, good luck paying for your truck when oil is $45/barrel and they shut your wells down and your company went out of business because it isn't economical to keep them going right now.

yeah, I don't understand jacked up 12", with huge tires, just a pain in the ass to get in and out of and to get into the box. There is a guy at my work with a big diesel truck that was over $100k.

There are going to be some great deals on used trucks here in "Berta in the near future.

Absolutely there are.

My brother is working on his welding ticket right now (he works in a shop in Calgary), but lots of the guys he's in school with are Ft. Mac/oilfield/contract guys who are already working on building up their welding trucks and those are well north of $100-120k. That's a pretty big gamble out here these days...

Please tell me why a Denali HD is practical welding truck? Ha ha ha

No doubt, plus with the beat down they take they aren't going to be worth a penny after 2 years. The guy I work with the $100k truck just uses it as a daily driver, doesn't even get paid for it (rich farmer). When I used to work in the bushes you would see the odd contract welder running a 10 or 15 year old truck for years on end, smart guys, prob made a mint haha.
 
Basically it goes like this...

1. Cummins

2.Duramax

3.Powerstroke

Find an old D250 ram with a 12 valve Cummins and that will run longer then you will be alive ( with the right maintenance of course).

The 6.4 is god awful and that thing gets some of the worst fuel milage out of any diesel pickup.

hence why I added nor, it can't be put specifically onto one company although ford should have taken the brunt of the blame.

if you can find an old 5.9 industrial 12 valve (pretty sure it's 5.9, might be 6 something) regardless I drive one in a water truck during the summer for work. It sounds beautiful, it can take a beating. (every single day in 40 degree heat with two 18 year olds learning how to drive on it)

I want to cummins swap my dads 6.0 powerstroke if it blows up again.

Yeah they were a 5.9 the old 12 valves. They are getting pretty rare now. Yeah you should rip that 6.0 out. Basically the worst Diesel engine built....but some guys just love em.

They're not the worst ever build, international is still building them and putting them in industrial equipment. Neither company tested the 6's enough, and on top of the head gaskets, the emission control on them sucked fat dick. I drive one with studs, with a hollowed out magnaflow and a straight pipe almost every single day. If they're built right they're fine.

I would rather have a cummins I mean but when it comes down to it the ford takes so much less time to spool and it's fucking bullet proof. My dad built it, I didn't. I want to run a new set of injectors and do some stuff but my dad likes his old build workford that uses a shitpile of fuel and fires on 7cyl until it's warmed up.

One day i'll swap it, one day.
