never did and i'm glad. started skiing at 7 and my dad and cousins taught me a good bit, got an awesome instructor for a while as well. his name was bobby from the wisp, i thought he was such a badass hahaha. i think i can hold my own out of the park with almost anyone at my mountain, in the park needs a little work still though hahah.
I wanted to, but I lived pretty far away from a moutain so I couldn't. Bassicly all of my friends were into snowboarding, and I had to follow them around. hences how I got into freeskiing
I just cruised around the piste for 3 years, since I live in the UK i only got to go out like 3 weeks a year... Park and BC is just so much freedom its awesome.
i raced when i was little, took a few years off, then started back in high school. my team was super laid back and stuff and partied at state races....i never wore a speed suit and still killed half of the girls on my team. i wish i'd gone out for my college team though, oops. racing definitely makes you a better skier overall.
i raced until senior year of high school, and it helps your skiing so much. all big mountain skiers are ex-racers... as well as a lot of parkrats like jon olsson. sometimes kids that go straight to park end up havign TERRIBLE form getting down the hill... its almost like theyre gymnasts not skiers sometimes.
Moguls, but any structured program, whether it be a Freestyle Team or otherwise, provides an opportunity for great coaching. Teams/Programs generally attract skiers that want to charge and progress. Going back ten years...the only jumps available to skiers were found in mogul lanes...just made sense to ski on a team.
Used to race in high school but never took it seriously (never had a race suit or joined a race club etc.), still race every now and then for the uni games
I started when i was two, and raced for more than ten years. I kinda liked it, but did it cause i was good at it. when i finally stopped i took up freeskiing and haven't been happier. Racing sucks the life out of you, even though it gives you some very technical skills that really do a lot when your about to crash but pull yourself out of it. and in the trees
i snowboarded for like 4 years, then from the 7th to 9th grade i raced, and in the 9th grade i got twin tips and did both for that year and now i just freestyle. it definitely made me a better skier. fo sho.
Im a mogul skier, and I still do moguls. Moguls gave me a great base in jumping. Now I rip even harder now . I never raced in my life nor will I ever do it
i just started skiing two years ago and got hooked...parents couldn't afford to buy me anything..i played with rocks ..but 2 years ago started skiin at seymour and in 2 years i've skied 70+ times and counting...
snow is my crack...eventhough i crack on snow a lot.
^word, also started skiing when was like 3, raced til i was like 11 or 12, joined the freestyle team, did some bump comps but rode alot of park, started doing slope comps two years ago. thinking about getting back into bumps though.
i've wanted to race when i was a kid but my parents told we couldn't afford it. i did some open races and killed everyone. then i saw a warren miller movie with a bunch of people doing a rainbow rail and i then i skiied park since.
I started racing I was like 7...The first year it was the fun. Second and third year it got old, it seems like all the racers are just naturally mean to each other, and the coaches are jerks too. After I quit racing i did bumps. LOADS of fun, made me so much of a better skier it is recdiculous, while doing bumps i got hurt alot just because it was tiring and I didn't know when to quit. THen I just started skiing for fun all over the mountain and in the park.
