Did video games fall off?

player versus enviroment. This is the opposite of pvp which means player versus player. Examples of Pve games are left 4 dead, Skyrim, borderlands (I think)... any game where your main opponent is the game itself and not other players I guess.

Cool. Are your pve maps populated by other online players tho?

i think the massive downgrades from the trailer/gameplay premiers of new games to what consumers actually get when they buy a game nowadays is a little more prevalent, especially with devs rushing stuff out the door to meet deadlines and then issuing gigantic updates to fix their buggy online servers....feels like every single major game that comes out takes at least a year to become great because devs are pressed with insane workloads and cant get stuff playtested and programmed properly in smooth out all the kinks....and then you turn into a company like Rockstar or Naughty Dog where your making your employees work literally for weeks on end without sleep or being able to go home.....

And companies need to stop making games without offline play functions; I dont want to spend hours solo grinding and getting loot only to be disconnected due to a server error on the games part.

They can be. World of warcraft is a pve as far as I know. Games like rust and ark can be played on pve severs but usually pvp is more prevalent (especially for rust).

I like Ark but it really takes a lot of time to enjoy, not sure if it's worth it without friends imo.

Skyrim is great but idk if its aged too well.

Right now I'm playing dota 2, dead by daylight, and gta online which are pretty much pvp games. Gta story mode its pve though.

Its funny how the apologists for crappy games always say, "Yeah but do you know how hard and expensive it is to make a AAA title nowadays?"

Meanwhile cdprojekt red is like, "Bitch Please..."

Saw an article that said The Witcher 3's budget was $81 million, meanwhile COD is $250 million.

depends on the game but its certainly not "easy" to make a video game in 2020

Lol it would have been boss if they made a DLC where you could just shoot him during a cutscene.

PS5 is ugly as shit. Some good games announced in the stream though. Time for Xbox to announce the price and get the party started. Oh and GTA 5 on next gen no 6 announced no thank you.

Man tell me if it's any good!

I was really unimpressed with the gameplay trailer when it came out. Feels like the bastard child of assassin's creed and the witcher 3. What really turned me off were the horse mechanics and the collectible ingredient things that Jin kept picking up. I also didn't like how customizable clothing colors and the "samurai cinema" mode were some of their primary selling points.

I did think that the way you can change combat styles mid combat is really interesting though. Admittedly, I'm pretty RPG-spoiled from games like Dark Souls and Sekiro. Maybe I need to be a little more open minded haha

I think they toned down some features that were initially presented, but I put in about 8 hours or so (Finished the prologue; started Act I) and im enjoying it so far; I haven't really played many games with this kind of combat-style so i cant do a fair comparison of it to like Sekiro, Nioh, Dark Souls, AC, etc,. The sword-play is pretty fun, the skill trees seem interesting so far with different types of combos, strikes, blocks, counterattacks, etc, you can unlock throughout along with other skill trees for stance and other parts. I think the gameplay might have been improved from the trailers I saw early on a few months ago, but It doesnt feel like the combat will get stale throughout the game. Only small minor gripe i have with combat is the AI is a little wonky, could be cuz im on an older PS4 system but i ran into a few minor bugs last night but nothing game-breaking at all. Ive played enough looter shooters so im okay with how "simple" i guess the looting aspect of the game is haha. a bit of realism is fine but having to open individual drawers and cupboards and closets and doors gets a bit stale after a while (thanks Ubisoft). I haven't unlocked anything enough really to touch up on the character customization but I hope you can keep things a little vanilla and not too crazy with Jin. Some of the armor sets look pretty cool though.

Gorgeous game environment so far, a very cool soundtrack, and yeah the samurai cinema modes might be just a bit over the top but I think its cool when games do that. I love the photo mode too, you can snap some cool shots.

Thanks for this!

From what I'm aware the overall game progression is similar to that of far cry and just cause where you clear portions of the map by liberating different "settlements". Is there any unique spin on this or is just traditional?

It's good that the combat won't get stale; Although, when I played Sekiro (which has one of my favorite combat systems), I didn't find myself using many of the alternative weapon options (prosthetic attachments, martial arts, etc). Hopefully different combat styles are genuinely viable.

And yeah, it is cool that the developers care about the game's stylistic roots with the samurai cinema stuff. It shows that there's passion involved because a focus on that is pretty unique.

there are villages and settlements you can visit/fast travel too but its not like "you have to liberate them first" in order to access them, because they have things like merchants and sidequests you can activate, there are some enemy stronghold things that you cant access until you have progressed up into a certain point of the game but its mostly main story quest line/sidequest heavy with tons of exploration and places to checkout with enemies as you roam around, killing some of the mongol leaders that patrol the roads or hang out at points of interests helps unlock stuff too

I've been looking at buying a gaming PC pretty hard recently. I work in the IT field so its always been a turn off to come home and play games on a PC after working on them all day when I can fire up my Xbox and not worry about shit. I know all the PC master race gamers will day to build your own, but right now I can get a hell of a deal on a prebuilt alienware directly from dell. Only about $300 more than building my own. Any thoughts?

What are the components?

Post the specs here and people will chime in.

On another unrelated note, I'm so pissed off Cyberpunk 2077 is getting delayed again. Was playing Witcher 3 the other week and listened to Ciri say this and I'm hoping we get a cameo. I know they've said we won't but maybe they'll change their mind.

I'm still adamant that Battlefield 4 is the best multiplayer shooter of all time. Hopefully BF6 follows suit and is modern and the shooting mechanics are stellar. BFV was a load of shit.

How much do they want for it?

Here's what I think.

The NVIDIA card doesn't have as good cooling as an MSI, EVGA, Gigabyte, etc. but if you're not overclocking it, that doesn't REALLY matter. The 2070s is a fantastic card and will last you for quite a bit of time. Some people may suggest waiting for the next-gen cards to come out (supposed to drop this year/Q1 2021) and those are supposed to blow this generation away. But the 2070s is more than good enough to hold you over until you NEED to upgrade.

You're likely overpaying for the CPU since it's Intel. I'm not too well versed in the Intel-AMD debate for gaming but it's pretty unanimous in that an equivalent AMD CPU is going to run less than what an Intel would cost you.

Any idea what MoBo it comes with? MoBo choice is wicked important for a variety of reasons when it comes to gaming. It determines how futureproof it is for upgrades, how easy it is to OC ram, add more memory/RGB/cooling, etc.

The RAM should be fine, any idea what CAS it is? This determines how easy/hard it is to overclock. If you know the MoBo you can also look to see if it's on the "supported" RAM list. This just means they'll have tested it for OCing using the XMP settings and it's stable.

The memory is fine if you're OK with switching games from SSD-HD when you're not playing them. SSD-stored games will render faster (really nice if you're playing games with a lot of loading screens). You can easily upgrade this on your own, there are sales for 1TB SSDs (non-NVME) all the time.

Cooling/case imay be really important. If you're OCing anything, you'll want to have a case with a lot of airflow/ability to add in an AIO/more fans. It probably comes with a few stock fans, but that may not be enough. I have a Meshify C that I got an AIO+several more fans for as my 3600 ran REALLY warm (not even OCing) with the stock CPU fan even though it's one of the better cases out there for airflow.

$1699. I really don’t know much about the gaming side of PCs which is embarrassing considering my profession. Any recommendations on other brands? I’ve heard good things about NVXT (?) where they send you a semi prebuilt.

Takes me 20 minutes to build a basic pc and get it to turn on, major problem with pre builds is that some companies warranty the whole pc, so if just your gpu breaks you can't just deal with that one part sometimes, so its up to you. Either way based on your job I'm guessing you have a friend to help you build so I would build one if I were you.

I'm not against building my and I know I can build one, I just like the simplicity of ordering it pulling it in and getting started. Plus Dells warranty is pretty damn good and Dell command update is fire.

I think Alienware is NORMALLY overpriced for what it contains. NZXT and CyberpowerPC aren't bad given you can customize some aspects but you're now paying for labor/missing out on bundles from other websites.

For instance, here's a quick build I threw together.

It's spent money in better places IMO.

You don't need the CPU that the Alienware provides you. It's 100% overkill unless you want to get into serious OCing. The 5 3600 is PERFECTLY fine for 99.9% of builds out there.

The GPU, while the same price, has better cooling. You can switch back to the NVIDIA edition if you like the aesthetics better.

You can get a cheaper case, but the Lian Li gives you A LOT of space for cable management as well as future upgrades. I know with my Meshify-C, I've got like, barely a MM between my AIO and GPU. Had I known, I would have gone for a larger case with the price premium that came along with it.

The MoBo is an X570 series, which means it will be compatible with the Gen 4 AMD chips. It has included Wifi as well, which may or may no matter to you. Its' VRMs aren't amazing but again unless you're OCing, you don't need to worry.

I included a Noctua fan since the stock 3600 fan isn't great IMO. You can change this out for a single fan or bigger AIO if you want.

The 1000 watt power supply in the Alienware is BEYOND overkill. You can run most builds with a 650-750 watt supply with zero issues. Once you start getting into a lot of RGB+Custom watercooling+lots of OCing you'll likely want 750+ but till then, 650 is fine. I'm running mine with a 550 and no issues.

The thing about custom builds is that they give you flexibility for upgrades now as well as later.

For instance, you can get a smaller case and then put the money you'd save there into a better (and smaller) card.

Basically same price, but different case+a better (for OCing if you desire) and smaller card.

I've got no idea what the MoBo is for Alienware which is what bothers me. But, if you can get a killer deal and you're fine with the lack of customization/potential upgrade-ability, go for it.

PCPartPicker has some great guides as well for "pre-built" (read pre-customized) options as well. https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/

Building a PC isn't hard, there are SO many guides out there.
