Did I make a mistake on U of U

so I applied for of U of U for next year for a business major, However I do not believe that I got into the business scholars program. so im conflicted on weather or not the regular business program will get me as many opportunity as if I were to go to any other larger schools as U of U by itself isnt considered the best school out there. While I love skiing and it was a reason I decided to apply, I would definitely consider myself more career focused than I am about skiing.

It never hurts to apply. You don’t have to go if you get in. If you are not satisfied with the school’s academic standards/reputation then go somewhere better.

I don’t know school rankings off the top of my head but I’m sure there are better programs at least somewhat close to skiing. I’m sure there’s a lot of NSers who could weigh in on this in particular.

You can probably do well and transfer somewhere you can't get into out of HS.

Business scholars program sounds like it is full of douchebags especially at a large state school. You should get a STEM degree with business as a dual. Big regret of mine not doing that wish I did Engineering or Architecture.

You could enroll as a standard business student and apply to get into the scholar program after your first semester if your grades are good. I wouldn’t place too much importance on that program though.

Op if you have the academic ability and finances to sit down for 4 years and get a general degree in any 4 year program good for you.

But it’s really not gonna matter unless you have a very specific job in mind.

If you want be a doctor you gonna need medical degree. You want to be a lawyer you need a law degree. You want design plans for buildings you need get engineering degree.

Example: commercial airline pilots are hiring just about anyone. You need a 4 year degree as a requirement but it could be in business or art.

They just want to see your capable. And that’s in any job.

And side note cause I don’t think trades don’t get brought up enough. You could go to a trade school, take a two month welding class for $2,000-4,000, and be making $60,000 a year with in weeks of getting your degree. Instead of sitting in class spending $30,000 a school year in a overpriced education. Food for thought.

Trying to double major with one in stem doesnt usually work out for most people.

Make it a business decision. Is U of U the best deal for what you get? Are they giving you a full ride? Can you get better scholarships someplace else? IMO the first two years of your program be taken at any community college so really just try to get the best deal

I'm sure if you excel you'll be just fine, the U is a giant school full of opportunities, just do what you need to do to stand out. Also you won't find a better school for skiing.

Honestly it doesn't 100% matter what state business school you go to because everything is so internship centric nowadays at least in business...doesn't really matter what school you go to as long as you apply for and get a couple solid local internships. That's what future employers will care about more and I'm in that position currently. Getting in early with companies is 10x more important than what school you went to an U of U is a good school

im looking to go to the u and got into the business scholars, looking into it i don't think its necessary. considering how focused they are on business with the lassonde studios and the big business building i think ur good.

Seeing as how you cannot spell "whether", it doesn't matter because you're getting kicked out before the end of your second year for being such a fucking idiot.

One of the best business schools in the west if Im not mistaken. I have a lot of friends personally that went to the U for business/finance stuff and all have great jobs now a few years after graduation, and even had sweet jobs while in school. For anyone interested in Medical, its also another great school for that. One of the best in the country.

Well you could work hard on a business and make a shit ton of money, you could slack off and get a business degree, or you could work hard and get a business degree. It really doesn't matter unless you work hard, any idiot can pass business school in 2020 because it's now everyone's "right" to go to college and literally anyone can have the check cut for school thanks to Uncle Sam. You're going to get hired by working hard to find a spot. You're going to make money by working really hard to prove you are an ASSET.

I could give 2 shits where you went to school frankly. I can spend 2 days with you and know if I want you or not. I've never asked anyone where they went to school.
