Diamir On Pollards?

You guys think this would be a good idea? I'll be skiing in New Zealand this summer season (summer in scotland) and touring either north america or europe in our winter. Backcountry will feature highly in both hemispheres.

i think that would be a good combo, pollards have a pretty stiff mid-section, and they're pretty wide, i'd say go for it

Seize the carp

pollards are incredibly light.

i didn't come here with pants, and i'm not leaving with pants

Its a fat ski so it should be okay for touring for a few hours outside the resorts but for 10+ hour tours dont even think about it.

They are a good all round ski I suppose, but the waist isn't that fat, leading to the good edge to edge and all round ski feel. Should float in pow alright though because of the wide tip and tail. I'm thinking I'll give the reactor 12s a go, already got them on the darksides and if I need an AT binding go with the FR. Thanks Guys.

Go with a Naxo. It's not very much more expensive and the alpine toe piece and the double pivot is key. Freerides aren't nearly as dependable.

Look... A mountain RAM. Staring contest. Me and you. You don't even blink do you? You win. You always do. Goulet.

Dont get the Naxo. I know 10 guys who owned them and broke ALL the heel pieces, once that happens your're fuked when it comes skiing down or anything. My freerides are super solid and better and more dependable than the naxo.

How can a binding without an alpine toe piece be better than one with a DIN that can crank down to 12. I've skied 60 days so far this season on my Naxo's and have no complaints.

Big Air Smite: Where are you heading in NZ? I'm going to be staying in wanaka & riding Treble Cone for the coming season. Looks so sick.

Dude, both freerides and Naxos have a DIN of 12, except for the size small naxos and they only go up to DIN 9. ALl size freeride go to Din 12. Only big difference with the Naxo is the dual pivot. As with durability I talked to so many people that own Naxos, ALL of them have either busted the heel piece or the toe piece. Try taking off your bindings in cold weather with your boots only after a few trys they will snap. Naxos suggests you take your boots out with your poles. Some serious issues and hopefully will be fixed next year.

Mothership: I'd be staying in Oxford, near Christchurch, South Island. Mount Hutt and the Remarkables and loads of backcountry! Where you from? What you ski? Scottish Pride Yo!

Thanks for the info on the naxo dude, i'll go back and talk to their rep.

I Like To Ski

Oxford looks a sweet location for hitting arthurs pass & club fields. I'm going to have to make sure i make it to craigieburn at some point. Have you got some where to stay already? I'm just showing up hoping to find something. From Glasgow but at uni in edinburgh. Do you ski up north much? I'm off to glencoe at weekend. I ski last years mad trix or the old 1080s depending how much grass & rocks are about.

I don't see any DIN adjustment on the toe of the freeride. Maybe I'm blind.

Man you must smoke some crack, the top big screw on the toe piece is for height adjustment, the DIN setting on the is right on the front of it. Stand the ski vertical and look down on the toe you will see a screw which is more the DIN setting.
