DH Mountain Bikes

Im looking to buy a Dh. bike so i have to sell my Xc bike but anyway what is a good Dh mountain bike.

all depends on how much you want to spend. If you want a super sick rig with like 8' of travel, very plush, very smooth, ur lookin at about $5000 or more.

If ur lookin for a freeride bike, similar to DH, but a little lighter and less travel, you want about 5'-6' of travel. These frames are made to take abuse from jumping off of shit, bombing DH type of terrain, but still light enough to pedal around. This is what I ride.

Freeride bikes are between $1500 for a base model, up to $4000 plus.

The top brands (top $$$) are Turner, Ellsworth, Tomac, and Azonic.

If you want a little cheaper, but still good stuff, look at Rockey Mountain, Santa Cruz, Marin, Giant, Specialized, damn, there are a lot.

Also, get XT or XTR parts. They are significantly better.

hope this helps

DH is sweet and so is free ride but if you are not going to bike a lot dont buy a 5000 doller rig.

the 24 full-suspension bike (le dude) is an amazing ride. if your going all out go for a Karpiel (but theyre very expensive). id suggest a basic rm 7 because its decked out and its got a monster. my friends got one and it rides very nicely (a lot better than last years rm 7).

booo norco, sure they're canadian but everyone has them, get rocky and no they aren't cheap like someone said above, they're hand made canadian quality. i've got an rm7 with shivers and that will run you 5 grand, but if you're on a budget you wanna look at a norco cause they're cheap. i'd suggest anything with at least super t's and race face components.

DH bikes r fuking expensive, i will buy i dirt bike, brand new, and spend less on it, before i buy a real DH bike

get a stinky d, best bang for buck

ya if you're looking for a dh bike you need to realise that's it like basically owning a car, there is monthly maintenance for sure and it's not cheap unless you work in a shop or know someone who does. parts are ridiculous and there are more of them so more can go wrong, but if you maintain it and take care of it you shouldn't have to many problems

It's is almost retarded to ask someone what bike they should buy. Buy the one that fits your style the best. I am looking for a mountain bike myself. Today I went to a Kona, Giant and Marin demo. I rode the Giant DH Comp. Shit! I felt so confident on that thing. And I'm 5'9 andit was a 19 inch. that's all they had. I still rode it hard. but for 4k I could by a nice lady.

Kona makes pretty good freeride bikes too....just a thought

suck it up and buy a hardtail. Then buy the movie killing time.. watch Arron Chase's Part over and over realize how much we all suck then quit and sell the bike.
