anyone who is knowledgeable..... im thinkin of getting a dh freeride rig with a budget of about 3 g's canadian any suggestions? im thinking maybe a stinky but i dont like its front fork
 
demo 8 or 9's are sick. The stinky is a wicked bike too. Most shops would switch the fork for you.
 
the iron horse sunday team is soooooooo sick. sweet components, it's totally bombproof. simple design too. big two thumbs up
 
ya, i was thinkin about a Stinky, I got a Big Hit instead..... Both decent bikes, it looks like your budget is a little higher than mine was so go for the really nice bikes
 
devinci johnson strong a tank fairly cheap super rad wont be dissapointed

or get an Rocky Mountain RMX super sweet and really,really good warranty(if i remember correctly)

but go with the johnson
 
get a nice bike that is barely used. i got my bike that was used like onece or maybe twice and got it wayy cheaper than it should be and it was in prime condition and still is.
 
demo 8's and 9's cheapest models are like 3500-3800 , so too much for me. but im not strictly dowhillin, i was thinking the specialized enduro sx trail 1 but it is kinda costly.. thnx for the help

For 3g range the answer to your question is the norco Aline. Demos are nice but are quite a bit more
 
a line is 3400 , and im lookin inbetween 2 - 3 grand , so far im thinkin the stinky is my best bet cause i will be riding jumps and shore style stunts also
 
if your not strictly downhill then dont get a DH bike. freeride would be your best bet. iron horse has those too. whatever you do make sure to go here: www.mtbr.com
 
I'm really happy with my C'dale Gemini. Solid bike.

If you can get a hold of anything FSR (specialized rear suspension) go for it. Single pivots are fine until you become a better rider, then they become a pain in the ass if you're riding hard (brake jack). If you can find a Big Hit, go for it. The Norco Shore series is kick-ass too, but I'm not sure what they go for. FYI Norco also uses FSR, it's basically a more budget way to get that suspension than Specialized.

The Ironhorse 7point series look awesome, but I don't know much about them, except that they use DW-Link (used on Team Sunday, and the technology similar to Maestro) which is supposed to be AWESOME in terms of pedal feedback and brake jack.

I'm hoping on scoring a Demo 8 in the near future. The 2007 ones look sick.
 
Go with an Iron Horse. They aren't exposed much for the exception of a few magazine ads but they are wicked decent bikes. You should definitly invest in one.
 
between 2-3g the only 'dh' bike out there is the norco atomik. all others will just be freeride bikes. the atomik this year is a budget level dh bike and its speced really well for the money
 
i have a 2005 trek session 77 that I just bought at the beginning of june, the bike retails for 3850 us new. I'd be willing to drop it for 1700. It's only been used a month, and I put a mrp system 3 chainguide on it with a 38 tooth chain ring. I also found the manitou sherman brakeout in urban cammo to pu in the front. Let me know if you are interested because this is the best deal you will ever find on a dh/ freeride bike.
 
yeah I have the devinci 8-flat-8 and I love it...also only heard good things about the rmx. also, a good bike for the price is the norco a-line, but have to invest to change suspension coil to stiffer and bashguard.
 
demo 9's are too much and i want to be able to pedal it up hills and around off jumps and trails

man that is my dream bike. it would come to like 3600 though so unless my parents wantto go splits then it aint gonna happen... but ooooooooooo what a sexy bike
 
ive got an AC thats all tricked out for dh/freeride, i rode it once, adn its been sitting in my room ever since...
