Dew tour and Kerri Miller

Evan Raps, Phil Belanger, Phil Larose, and Steele Spence were all judges at the event. Although I agree that Joss Christensen had a sick run, but I think the judges were pretty on point....pretty much everyone in the top 30 killed it, had a baller dub, and did left to right spins in their runs. Some people grabbed well, others were struggling and grabbing their shins. Sick comp either way...I wish all these guys were competing at every stop.
 
First off, if you dont know the guy then you have no idea of his intentions. Secondly, if he weren't around, then the sport would not be were it is today because he has helped many up-n-coming talented skiers make their way to the top and progress our sport by presenting them with opportunities like the dew tour. And BTW Kerry does not decide who gets a spot and who doesn't, those wonderful folks at the dew tour do. Yes, all the people you mentioned could kill it, but how many comp results do they have, and keep in mind this is a competition. There was a 15 year-old up there today that I believe Kerry may have "helped" get into the tour and he was throwing a dub cork 12, strait killin it. And no his mom did not suck anyone off to get him in, the kid is a good fuckin skier and deserved the spot. Nobody at dew has to take Kerry's advice, but he knows talent, and presents it in a respectful manner to the people that decide who gets in and who doesnt. He is by nooooooo means in it for the money, as pretty much everything that he has goes towards helping the kids and never to his own luxury. Yes, he can come of as obnoxious, but he is a good guy and we are very fortunate to have him in our sport.
 
fyi, they were calling Hornbeck's name at the top of the course today for a run, but i'm pretty sure hornbeck dipped out to the midwest
 
all i know is when he would hang around comps when i was younger he kind of scared me a little bit. like coming off reallllly friendly and knowing who i was when i didn't know who he was and being like 12 or 13 years old
 
hmmmmm maybe he thought you had potential. and not hard to find out someones name if you are wearing a bib and on the startlist. and in a sport like this who gonna look at the 22 and 23 year-olds and try to promote them as up and coming talent? Anyhow, if you think its wierd that someone you dont know knows your name, then I would stick to soulskiing, and stay away from comps, cuz if you ever do really well lots of people you dont know are gonna know your name. This is a good thing when it comes to sponsorship and promotion and further opportunity within the community, but obviously not a lifestyle choice for everyone.

You are a fucking idiot. You obviously don't know shit about Kerry, the program he runs, how good the kids are he coaches, and how much of a good guy and contributor to the sport he is.

You are seriously gonna call someone a child molester because he helps super talented young skiers progress in a sport that they love and have a better chance to succeed as a professional athlete? You are fucking pathetic.
 
yeah you're right i have no idea what i'm talking about. all i know is i've heard some stories from several people either within the program or who have left the program
 
ski coaches pulling strings to get their athletes into competitions? NEVER heard of that before!
every single coach of every single skiing program have helped out their kids in or get into a competition. don't know who this homie is but if you're gonna call out one of them at least call out all of them.
 
kerry does amazing things for kids lives.. everyday he wakes up and dedicates all his time and effort to help kids out and better there lives with almost no benefit to his own which is completely selfless. he is a great person so if you beak kerry you can pretty much go fuck youself in the ass with a large dildo. he has been responsible for a cornucopia of pro skiers.. he knows his shit and knows who should be in what contests moxam and brojan arent even up there with some of the sickest skiers.. i could list numerous skiers that are WAY sicker than those guy.. oh wait who's brojan ive never even heard of the clown he's lucky he wasn't in that contest cause kerry's kids would have taken his dignity and threw it out the window. they're skills are mediocre in comparison to tons of kids out there. don't assume things about something or someone you know absolutley nothing about because the only result is making a fool of yourself and someone who dosent deserve to be made a fool out of like kerry. I am one of his kids and if you don't like that than fuck off and go cry about how you didn't get into another contest you thought you were good enough to get into.
 
and as far as moxam goes hahahaha he just got 3rd at the gatorade tour and thats an amature contest for kids hahaha so whatever he would have gotten raped in dew anyways ha

I have no doubt he has the ability to pull strings to get his kids in and making it harder for more deserving athletes to get in. It's bullshit but thats how this industry is. To blatantly say Brogan and Moxham aren't good is a asshole thing to do. So please stop sucking this dudes dick and learn some fucking grammar before you post.
 
My question is how do I get in? I can not do the free flow tour and I am not going to go around doing am contests. Should I go back to Michigan and stack results? Then will I be qaualified? Or Should I learn a double flip and not be able to do a right 3? Filming with Level 1, Rage, Ride the Planets, and Theory 3; Having photos and ads in freeskier/powder; Being on Armada. I am not saying those kids don't deserve to be in it, they are all good. I just really wanted to try this year and the year before and feel like I should be able to get into the open qual. I don't want to come off like im bitching I am just trying to figure it out myself.
 
cause your the most "under-rated skier" (-freeskier magazine). Go join an academy, pay for a coach, train, then by then you would have paid enough to become a "freeskier". Whats free about that? Stick to filming you can't buy a video segment (depending on who you shoot for)
 
Dont forget that tv and event organiser WANT young kids for these events.

They even had a contest for the younger ones during last year dew tour.
 
hornbeck u need a weekly video blog updated with your intense training/ what dubs u stomped that day...maybe then ull get a spot
 
I dont know exactly what it is about this thread that gets me so heated. Im sure this kerri guy isnt all that bad, you cant be liked by everybody so sure their will be people that say his coaching methods are stupid. But Honestly when i hear things like "he has coached so many pros, going back to the days of tanner hall" Is this really what we want? An elite group of coaches choosing who the next pros will be. Getting them into contests before they are ready so they can gain some experience. Or just the fact that a handful of people can control what the judges are looking for and what style is accepted. Its like a giant freeskiing conspiracy..

I know that was probably confusing to most but in the last couple of years "freeskiing" is turning into acadimies just like racers and aerials.

Im entitled to my own opinion that moxam and brogan arent up to par with the other prospectors in the tour. I formed this opinion from watching them ski. so i guess you as well are entitled to the opinion that I am an asshole for saying that. Fighting over opinion is completely irrelevant though. Whatever man your small potatoes to me anyways haha. O well your probably just some punk kid who sucks at skiing. see the sad thing is that kids like you just sit around and complain and criticize people you don't even know. Kids with your attitude will never go far. you will just sit there complaining, never making it anywhere close to a contest comparable to the dew tour. So keep complaining while all us real skier who know what the fuck is going on laugh at you hahahah. THREAD SUMMARY

-The world of freeskiing has become very political and corporate driven. Unlike snowboarding, which developed their own brands, and stigma, freeskiing is in the clutches of the big ski companies, even Line is K2. there is nothing free about skiing anymore, and even if your the best skier on planet earth, you aint shit unless you went to a "freestyle school" and have paid your dues. thats why skiers like tom wallisch and ahmet dadali are such a big deal. they are kids who grew up shredding and actually made it. partially thanks to NS.

-Keri Miller is famous ski coach, that does great things for the sport of freestyle skiing. As a highly paid coach he does his job and gets his athletes into the limelight along with politically correct competitions. even if they arent good, or not as good as some kid that schooled everyone in a railjam, his athlete is paying him to make sure he wins.

-The dew tour is sick, but is run by people who dont know shit about the sport. be happy we have it.

-every pro skier should start their own company, instaed of letting corporate companies sell their pro models. sponsors control the sport, but if athletes owned the sponsors, well then

-every NSmember should support these companies, so we can own our sport.

i may make a new thread based on this concept. freestyle skiing has been following snowboarding with a 3 year lag. it seems as if we have derailed though. we want our sport to follow the path of snowboarding, or it will turn into the next shit show. if it hasnt already.

 
not sure if you are really asking for advice or just making a point, but......

good results at things like Aspen, Mt Snow Open, and Dumont Cup are legit in the Dew Qualifier considerations... and its not like those are Am comps.
 
uh... snowboarding isn't corporate? then what the fuck is burton? and thats funny how to mention you aint shit unless you go to ski school but tom never went and as far as i know neither did ahmet.

if you want to be paid, ski really well, put yourself out there and win comps. thats all.
 
I travel with a 14 year old and manage his events.... i registered him online and never got accepted nor denied, they mucked up the registration, same with others. However, we qued up the night before for hours to get him in on the wait list, he was number 2 on the wait list for pipe and got in easy... there were only about 4 or 5 other people who lined up to get on and all got in....My kid didnt stomp his run but the experience for him was so huge, to be at an event like that at his age. He wasnt up to the standards of others obviously, but he clearly has massive potential and so to get a chance like this was massive for him and will help him greatly in the future.... this is the same for the likes of mitch gilman and beau etc etc....

But that doesnt mean to say you should miss out, however my suggestion is that next year if you arnt accepted then do what i did and get on the wait list by lineing up for hours and get your chance to prove everyone wrong....

Yes Kerry has a big influence on who gets in and who doesnt, he told me he selects the athletes along with others.... However if you wernt selected, it wasnt necesarrily because some 14 year old was put in ahead of you, if you were that good and deserving they wouldnt of ignored your name....What also must be taken into consideration is that they didnt recieve your registration.... the told us that had problems with online rego, and that it said awaiting confirmation on your account but they never actualy recieved this......I dont think kerry single handedly ruled you out of the comp
