Detuning skis

Really though, run a search. This is a VERY commonly posted topic.

Or to be quick, detune under-foot, dulling the edges with a flat file if you plan on doing a lot of jibs. It's not mandatory though.

shit your pants on rails for about a weekcatch your edge lotsfall doing so lotsthen your golden
thats honestly my tactic

I detune my skis before i do rails. i'd recomend it. i round the edges with a flat file for about the middle half of the ski, i hate catching edges.

Just hit a few butter boxes your first few runs, that's all you really need. If you are catching edge on those I wouldn't blame it on the skis you know?

Some sort of hard plastic (milk crate). This works for me with both my skates (the blades are sharper than ski edges) and my skis. It will dull the edges without totally removing it. If you want to remove it go with a rock.

Detune... if you don't your edges break faster. They catch for the first few days which can cause cracks more.... detuning ships that whole process and is safer. I detune tip to tail... everything.

And I would just go to the hardwear stor... get a file. Then you don't just go at it. You work tip to tail, and from the tip of the file to the portion close to your hand. do about a foot at a time.

Hole the file at about a 45 degree angle and work your way down the ski... hard to explain, but easy to do..

I used a coin on the middle third.. Like 20 times forth and back.. And good to go! Remember to do it on both edges, unless your only riding rails with the same edge first always, if you know what I mean..
