Detuning of ski edges.

Here you can first of all say how detuning of the ski edges should be done,

and so on discuss the theme.

And please make this sticky. Cause i do think that it is a lot of ppl wondering how they do it.

So please any tell how you should detune your ski edges before taking them out on teh first run and screwing them over on a rail..

take a file and file the dges from just in front of the toe piece to just behind the heel piece. make it so its slightly rounded/not sharp adn make sure there are no burrs

^ good call. just take a file to it and just go at it, and dont sharpen your edges ever again. you can be pretty agressive in tip area cause it doesnt touch snow

the way i always did it was using a gummi stone. it works really well and is easy to control how dull your edge gets

i would do a light file with a fine grit, two smooth passes on the contact points (where the ski initiates turns). Then use a gummy stone to remove any burrs or inconsistencies.

you really shouldnt see much of a 'round' edge, more of a 'less sharp' area. too much makes the ski sloppy while too little makes it really grabby and scary.

park skiers who butter and like to slosh around should detune slightly more and on a slightly longer edge.

thats my 2 cents but everyone likes their skis differently

in the threads you find on the searchbar there is like only one serious answer...

The rest is just a big piece of shit ...

this is nowhere near sticky. you yourslef must make a large effort and contribution of knowledge to make it stiky. and this thread s nowhere near it. sorryy
