Detuning edges

How much will I compromise control on the snow if I detune my edges? And where exactly on the ski should I detune 'em?

 
Just take a file to your edges from binding to binding under your boot. i did it to my fugatives and i didnt even notice a difference on snow, but on rails its like butta.

you will feel a difference if you ski skis that rnt detuned, wouldnt you think detuning will take more of your edge than a rail will? a file is rough and jagged, rails are smooth

when you file, i assume you use a fine file, but picture the ski turned on its side with the binding facing left and the bottom facing right, do you take the file sliding from the bottom binding to the top in a motion going to the right?

like which way do you grind them down. edge up or edge down. id assume edge up. so going pushing towards the left.

 
it will affect u on hardpack and ice. but its like the t halls, soo obviously not so much u cant turn

i use a gummy stone right on the center, unless u are doin nose presses/ taill presses

I grind down my mountain skis a little under boot, my urban skis i completely grind down under boot and a little around the binding, i use grinding stones that you car get for 4.00 US

I've thought about it, but decided not to even though it would make it easier. I think let my skis do it on there own, that way i dont have to worry.

detune about 3inches of the edges on your tips and tails. helps a ton skiing switch so you dont hook your edges and eat shit.

are you planning on skiing on butter? you have to have some damn edges... only underfoot should be 'de tuned'
