I'm 5'9'' and weigh 140 pounds. I'm a pretty agressive and advanced skier skiing about 60% park 40% all mtn. Ive been skiing for about 5 years so im pretty good, but i dont know where i should put my DIN at so that my binding doesnt fall off doing stuff, but so that i dont destroy my knees.

well what kind abinding are u gona use cause it makes a difernce espesialy if u have salomon bindings cause those should be cranked up a bit higher but for like most stard bindings ur be good at a 8 and a 10 on salomon

what happined to drugs, sex, & rock and roll...now adays we have aids crack and techno.......

GNR

I'm 5'11' and 160 and I ski similar to what you describe and I have mine on 7.5/8, they never to seem to come off when I don't want them to, but I'd rather that then mess my knee. They're rossi bindings.

You can always turn them up .5 or 1, then go ski. If they're still falling off, repeat. You'll soon get a feel for what you like.

Confusious say: man going through airport turnstyle sideways is going to Bangkok

not to high, you dont want to break your leg when you crash. If they come off when you turn hard, just tighten them up a bit.

yes definitly go to a shop.. at the least they have a chart that basses your din on weight, age, and ability.. they also have a machine that will test the release based on height, weight, age, and ability. The ski has to pass or else they can;'t let it go.

Don't listen to any of the above post unless they said go to a shop, especially the one that said that Salomons need to be set higher, they're retarded. Go to shop and have them adjust it especially since your question makes it sound like you have no idea.

as the few intelligent people above said, go to a shop. salomon bindings have the same din scale as any other bindings. the difference is that the toe peice is adjusted to fit your boot better. if that is not set correctly, you could crank your din up to 12 and still turn out of the ski. go to a shop, spend $15 to get the bindings checked instead of thousands in hospital bills when your stuff doesnt release when it should and you tear your knees apart.

The DIN Setting Chart

Make sure you READ THE STEPS.

Im 155lbs 6ft Type 3 skier 321 mm sole

so i should be at a din of 7. and i actually ride at 8-8.5. so it is a pretty close, and gives you a good range of where you should be.

oh yah another thing... if you decide to do it yourself (which isn;t a good idea if you don't know what your doing) make sure your toe and heal pieces are at the SAME DIN.. this may prevent a very much hurtin situation

^there's more to setting up bindings than just screwing your DIN to the proper setting.

Bahahaha... or, you could call it the 'elitist snob' cult. Anyways, my family already owns a country club, so no thanks.

To get the safest setting go to a shop. A shop or binding manufacturer will never recommend this but I like to tweak it a little more, kind of test the limits of the binding. This is not safe but Im pretty sure that they will fall off when I need them to and stay on when they need to.

i worked in a shop, they use the jig for the specific manufacture and the drill bit has a stop point, and yes, for din setting i just looked a the chart

my salomons had to be cracked up 2 din higher then my rossis and i still fell outta them...

If you are having prerelease problems like Ryano that is an even better eason to have the bindings looked at by a shop. That means they need to be release tested badly. Also with Salomons the toe piece is extremely adjustable and if you don't adjust it just right it won't function like it is suppose to.
