dspong is a tough kid. hes just perfecting his halo 2 sniper skills now. fuckin kid always gettin all the sniper kills.
 
Any inrun, especially a blue ice inrun, where you have to be going 98mph is not safe . Fucking christ, hope everything works out for spong.

That was horrific. He is lucky to be alive. As an EMT I have seen people take lesser of a hit and die. Saw him at the first US Open when he was 14. Outstanding! My concern is that when jumps are made, especially this big of a gap, is there any engineering going on? Calculation of speed needed, angle of trajectory, distance needed on the down ramp for safe landing. Or people just building shit to see if it will work? Just wondering.
 
As Mt. Shasta is my home mountain I would have to say that they probobly just pushed snow together and told them to go for it.
 
That's sad. I think that the guys who build the jump should be the first to go and test it. Maybe that is done, I don't know.
 
i cant believe that 1. someone built that jump. and 2. that people were willing to hit it. ok, we've got a huge-ass jump here, a gap, the landing is about the exact same length/height/width/transition as the takeoff, and the front of the landing is a solid wall. fucking idiots.

I just cant beleive how fucked up it is if you watch it and think 90 miles an hour the whole time. Ive seen it dozens of times and it still makes me sick.
 
i cant even watch that shit anymore. someone should construct a type of crash test dummy that could ginea pig jumps and make sure they are safe.! that would be awesome.
 
Damn, just watched this again. For all the money Rage films has behind it they could have done the physics and spared the crash (they must have a ton of startup cash from a benefactor considering the hi-profile music they license (unless they're using w/out permission)). Monster dollars for what.
 
hope he gets better.... just goes to show you should respect the kids throwing down in the east( i know hes not on the eastcoast) but that snow is like powder to me and i hate falling on that shit.... not to say ive ever fell That bad though but coming from the eastcoast THAT SHIT HURTS... and going the fast
 
That sucks so bad it makes me sick. However, there is no way Derek was going 98 mph when he took of into the air. WIlson probably was when he overshot, but I doubt Derek was going any faster than 60 mph there.
 
Yeah it would probubly take about 20 min to work out the math to see how fast he would of had to go to clear it. I wonder what kind of mind set you would have to be in to volunteer to try something like that first.
