"Depression"

Bumping this thread to point out what a a terrible post this is.

I'm not sure what makes depression so much more prelevant in first world countries, but regardless, we shouldn't ignore it or call people "pussys" because they're depressed.

Depression is AWFUL. It consumes you, it alters the way you see the world around you and the people in your life. As someone who has struggled in the past with both OCD and depression, I wish the best to anybody who has gone through or is going though depression. Clearly you aren't empathetic at all towards those who suffer from it.

While I agree that actual depression is no joke, I think there is something to be said about the number of people who "fake it" with melodramatic facebook statuses, Emo attitude, etc.

No real thoughts apart from you being the worst type of person to represent a disability or illness and therefore are being a prick.

You think you are legitimately depressed because you have taken medication and obviously have gone a few steps further in terms of your self pity or what not. I'm sure you have tried to angle and use your depression to your advantage. And other people aren't legitimately depressed like you they are just looking for attention unless they jump through all the hoops you do and take meds and stuff. People who do this can't be legitimately depressed right?

Anxiety and depression are both very real things. However the people who claim to suffer from those things the worst (and don't work or go to school as a result) are actually the fakers. The people who get on with it and do there best are usually the more legit people struggling with it.

Who the fuck are you to say what is actual depression and what isn't? I personally think you are one of the assholes you are complaining about and I am sure over half of the thread would agree with me.

Fake depression has seriously spawned its own culture. Pity (from both everyone around you and yourself) is an enjoyable feeling to some people. They'll never openly admit to enjoying it, so they cover it with their self-diagnosed depression.

That said, clinical depression is a very real, very serious thing
