Depression?

I think i'm legitimately depressed... About a week after ski season ended, my parents separated, and are most likely getting a divorce. I cant go ski to get my mind off of things. So, i think i need to know what you guys reccomend... I have been this way for years, and usually i can just walk away from it, put that fake smile on, and try my best to be happy. I dont want to do drugs, i just need some help from anyone that has had/ has depression issues right now... How do i get rid of them? p;ease dont trat me like shit over this.

honestly smoking pot helped me a lot back when i had issues. im done with all that now, would not recommend it as it usually gets people in trouble.

try longboarding, it really helps me get my mind off things. or just go take a walk by yourself in the evening. that helps me too.

Ok fail. I took up mountain biking and ski building. And while there's shit that still gets me down in life, I can still kick it over to those and leave stuff.

things i really enjoy doing help me out a bunch right now. golfing, frolfing, hanging with friends, just having a good time doing something else. try picking up something new is always a good thing.

i myself am currently dealing with more than 1 issue in my life and honestly i know it sucks man. havent gone through the parents divorce deal but we all have that thing in our life that really sucks. always remember there are people there for you, I know a NS can seem/look like a douche community but there are a ton of people out there willing to listen and just be a buddy.

good luck to you sir, as well as anyone else dealing with something.

Try a new hobby or sport. Mountainbiking, longboarding, hiking, making longboards. Learn how to meditate it helps you relax and get intouch with yourself and find what you're passionate about and what you really want to do and then doing these things makes you happy

running is a miracle drug. Alcohol just makes you nauseous, and you'll end up in nsg at 3:00 in the morning waiting to throw up ......

from what i understand you're really young, i was just like you in my early teens. traumatic events don't help but you gotta understand if they did it it was for the best. my advice to you is don't go on meds, they'll make you even worse with what they're prescribing today. meditate or go for hikes or find something other than skiing that puts you at peace and calms you. i can say that i grew out of my 'depressed' feelings, and that almost every kid your age goes through these kinds of feelings.

SKATEBOARD. its challenging and rewarding and there are endless possibilities to the tricks you can do. Plus cutting your shins is better than your wrists.

You can try creating stuff as well. Such as little crafts and building projects. Those types of things can take your mind off of things as they challenge you. My girlfriend's brother just committed suicide so i have been nonstop creating things to keep myself sane. Doesn't matter if the things are big or small. Keeping busy is the key. Throw on some happy music and torrent autocad as it can help you in designing larger projects and is fun/easy to use.

Luckily, I don't think what you're feeling is legitimately depression. More likely just upset about your parents, as anyone would be. It really sucks, man, but, like everyone has been saying, try and find other hobbies to help distract yourself and give you something to look forward to. I think the hardest part of times like these is that feeling of hopelessness and that there is nothing to be excited about, so finding something to get excited about and that gives you a reason to want to fall asleep quickly so tomorrow will come may help a lot.

the first thing you should know about depression is that whatever you are feeling is perfectly normal. Its just your body's way of telling you something. Reactive depression and clinical depression both are deeply affected by your thought process. It sounds like you are dealing with reactive depression and what you want to do is change the way you think. Start by grounding yourself. Feel your clothes on your body, touch things, eat your favorite food and focus on the taste, feel the force of gravity pushing you against the earth. These techniques will bring you back into the moment and will diminish anxious and depressing thoughts. From here its up to you to start thinking in a more positive way. I also suggest any kind of physical exercise. Personally i hate running or going to the gym cause i find that shit too repetitive, so i like to longboard and hackysack. If you do all this and still find yourself depressed look into buying 5-htp and omega-3. they are natural supplements that stabilize your mood.

smoke a hella ton o pot help forget shit always forget my problems after blazing up only a temp solution but it helps

none of that sounds remotely helpful at all. except for eat your favourite food. i approve of that.

that is exactly what i thought when i was learning this stuff. but you have to understand that it is not an overnight process. it takes effort and time

Go outside and get some exercise, you stupid shit.

It blows my mind at how many people refuse to exercise even though it's scientifically proven to combat the affects of depression. Also change up your diet because eating shitty food will make you feel shitty.

exercise (any of the following)

trampoline

biking - either mountain biking or just long road biking trips

swimming

aggressive skating

skateboarding

lifting/working out

running

get a job

hang with friends as often as possible

make goals and stick to them

I find the thing that's helped me the most is discovering new music, I'll just browse Youtube for songs and when I find ones I like, I just jam to those and it helps me so much for some reason. Also skateboarding too helps a lot.

I definatily get plenty of exercise. I jump on the trampoline for 1-2 hours everyday, mountain bike for 3-4, and other than that, i'm doing chores or schoolwork. I do online school, so i can ski everyday during the winter. I'm almost 6'0" and i weigh 145, so i'm healthy. But, i'm going to look into everything suggested! Also, I saw ski building suggested, I've built a few skis this past year, and that is always fun!

sorry to hear that brother. like everyone pretty much said already a new hobby/ activity can go along way for sures. but depending on what you want to do, not everyone can go buy a new bike or used bike for that matter. getting into new things can be expensive, but once you have them its a huge sense of accomplishment , just like getting new ski gear, you know it was expensive but you know you will have so much fun you wont and don't care. ! but off the biking subject, there are plenty of cheap activities that you could get into, and hanging out with old buddies and new buddies can go along way too. deff dont isolate yourself. but ya , its no fun, but good luck, thankgod your not on any crazy benzos or ssri s , u can do this shit yourself brah. good luck and peace and respect .

ive been there homie, try listening to some positive music or being around positive people. Or even just spending some time with friends. Another good way to get my mind of things is sports, if you dont play anything then try hiking or something. best of luck to you

You would know if you were depressed. Talk to a counselor about your problems, its not as bad as you might think and does help.
