Hey I was just offered a job to move to the Denver area, but I have never been. What are some personal opinions on the area, the skiing, the night life...thanks

my parents said they used to live right near denver, and they loved it out there, they skied at steamboat, and thought that was awesome

Umm, the city is ill. they just put a brand new train system in. Its like an hour and 10, depending on traffic, to most ski areas. message me, i can help more if ya need it.

Denver is a great place to live. In the winter the skiing is great. Brek, A-basin, Vail, Copper mountain, Winter park beavercreek and many more all within about an hour. Good nightlife. A lot of outdoor activities in the summer.

oh yea, if youre too lazy to drive, you can take the winterpark ski train up. it leaves from near downtown. Its so nice, you can sleep, fuck a bitch, smoke a fatty, or whatever, and you dont have to worry about driving.

Line rules!

yeah, i live in steamboat. don't come here till we get some new owners. but yeah you can get to a lot of good areas in less than two hours.

me 'is this Vanilla Ice?'

kid 'yeah'

me 'DIRTY HELL!'

kid 'what? i fuckin like the ice man!'

yeah, Denver is cool cause its not a huge place. colin is my brother. the nightlife is good and u always have a wide variety of places to go (not just the same types of clubs). there are plenty of ski shops and skateparks around, lots of healthy people. its a great place.

you people are fucking retards, I live in denver and it is nothing like anyone is saying. ne good skiing is 2 hours away. then on a sunday night it takes 5 hours to get back home. To many people have moved to the city in the past years and it is a major strain. Traffic is always bad, we are in a severe drought. There isn't much to do in the city itself. To many fags from cali and texas are all over the place. Don't move here.

A 2hr drive is nothing, especially when its through mountains and not fucking wisconsin.

ok, it's a 2 hour drive if you leave early or late. Then, is theres nesign of bad weather people stop driving. it's lame. not so bad going up but getting home suck major ass. I was just saying that there is no good skiing within an hour.

yeah unless u want ure house to burn down and since we have no water u cant put it out dont move here... iguess its alright here in the winter but we had like no snow last season, abasin usually stays open till late june july and it closed at like the end of april...its about hour and 30-45 to go skiing cept like eldora and loveland...but yeah it takes forever to come back on like a sunday night...ure coming back from like summit, and then the winterpark and loveland traffic comes out snd it takes foreve

this one kid told me that a-basin is gonna get snow making next year and that they are gonna stay open year round. i don't know if it's true, but that would be cool to have a place in colorado to ski at during the summer.

DENVER IS BLOODY AWESOME !!!! I'm an aussie who did the work in USA ski field thing etc.. During winter i made regualr trips from the rockies to Denve to watch nba/nhl games, shopping, etc... When winter ended i decided to move to denver and get a job because its such an awesome place. Its a really modern, young, high techish sort of place. Night life is pretty good, cold though during winter (duh) but watch for those nipple erections on the hotties :)

denver isn't that cold in the winter, it's not even in the mountains like most people think, it a valley with a big cloud of smog around it.

appearently, Phrosty has no social life and/or doesnt care about things outside of skiing. he asked for things other than skiing and compared to where hes moving from (im assuming) a two hour drive to whats considered as some of the greatest ski resorts in the country. and before you go off, i know that any 1-70 resorts can be overrated. shit ive lived in CO my whole life and was born in Denver. shit, just go to non-skiing gabber and read my article named 'The Scenery Effect' you'll see where im comming from.

Ok, first off there is nothing to do that isn't illegal if your not 21. Ok you could go to some clubs or gay shit like that. Ok I was born in CO too, and there is no way you can tell me that when your out of the city you enjoy looking at it. I mean we have some good sports teams too I guess, but seriously it's no special place.

Dude clubs are the shit... maybe you've never had the great drunken experience of just movin in behind a fine girl and letting the freak begin. But yea I've had a few vacations to colorado and denver, and I think it rules. Another thing i know is that right outside of golden there's an awesome restaurant, over the border, or some mexican place that fuckin rocks, it's the first place we eat after we drive from the airport.

yeah denvers not that bad, i have a good time...but i dunno what its like at other places, or like if u aren't in school like just a regular person aroudn here...i imagine its pretty fun tho

Nothing to do if you aren't 21...yeah. The best skatepark in Colorado; the mountains (although there isn't much to do there); lots of good shows (even all ages one); you can even hang out on 16th street, pretend to be homeless and beg; tons of great food; movie theaters (and I don't mean the 25-plex); cool shops (emage skate, decade for vintage shit, etc.); and there has to be more except I wouldn't know about it cause I am over 21 and spend most of my time drinking Night Train and passing out in the gutter.

You're spoiled rotten to live in such a nice place like Denver. You have so many options of things to do at night not to mention some of the sickest skiing in the states. Come to Connecticut and live here for a few years, then you can complain. (Not saying I don't appreciate my upbringing, but my town is dead at 10 on a Saturday night.) I'm going to college in Denver this fall and I can't wait. Look around and appreciate what you have.

Cheers

too bad land is expensive, like 120 G gets you like almost one acre. In most other places, you can buy half the state for that much.

Line rules!

ehh, it depends where you buy, prime realestate is expensive almost everywhere.

Yeah, if you really want to live near skiing move to Utah, but for Denver it is a LOT a driving to the big name resorts. Almost always 2+ to Vail, Copper, A-Basin, Keystone, Breck and Usally a lot longer to get home. Even further for some of the other resorts. Denver is a cool town, and there is a fair amount to do. As for your job, I personally would accept it, but it really depends on your other options.

Message me, I live in Boulder and know all about Denver.

We have an old saying down on the bayou....Blehhhhh!!!

Denver is a shithole, its like a mini version of LA, smog and all. if your gonna live in a colorado city move to boulder, although boulder is full of trusafarians. but i gotta say pearl street is a fun place to cause some shit.

dmb

Yeahhh, torture motherfucker what?

What? I'll fuckin

I'll fuckin tie you to a fuckin bedpost

with your ass cheeks spread out and shit, Right?

Put a hanger on a fuckin stove and let that shit sit there for like a half hour, Take it off and stick it in your ass slow like

Tssssssss

ya boulder is a sweet town its 10x better than the big city i live in littleton and its gay. the mountain towns in colorado are sweet though but denver is over rated and the snow needs to start falling or i am moving to utah.

finally, some people that see through the lies!!!

i used to live near denver and it sucked. if u are going to move near denver move to boulder or some town in the mountains close to denver because denver sux. the only thing there is a few good skate parks. and driving back on sundays from the mountains can take like 5 hours.

boulder is the sorryest town in colorado. don't tell anyone that lives there that though. if you live in boulder, you'll just end up driving to denver to actually have fun, and boulder is almost as expensive as living in aspen. there's a reason only trustafarian hippies can afford to live there.

but 2 hrs to get to the mountains? it takes two hours from fort collins, and that's an hour further than denver.....does your car only go 30 up the pass or something? i takes exactly one hour from I-25/I-70 intersection to get to winter park if you drive like a normal person. denver is a relatively big city, and there is plenty to do there. if you come from a normal sized town, you will be overwhelmed by how much shit there is. yeah it doesn't have the nightlife of say new york or chicago, but there's far more to do than any other place in colorado. i don't think phrosty has ever liked where he lives. i've lived in colorado my whole life and i'll be moving to denver when my lease is up here, because i have to drive down there anyway to have any fun, and it'll be an hour closer to the mountains. 2 hours though????? i've made it from denver to STEAMBOAT in like 2 1/2. i NEVER go on the fucking weekends though, so maybe that's why it takes all of you so much longer. i swore off skiing summit on days that begin with "S" a long time ago

just out of curiousity what kind of job did you get offered?

-Strode

oh man, if you told anybody in the peoples republic of boulder that, they would shit a brick...if you can find a way, live near denver but not in denver. evergreen, blackhawk, central city, idaho springs, etc etc etc, anywhere around there would be chill. people are just right in saying denver isnt really in the mtns...its right in front of the mtns...living in like, idaho springs would be chill as shit, you wouldnt have to deal with too much traffik

my cousin moved to dylan a few years ago and i visit him all the time. i can only speak of the drive from denver to summit county is like 1 hour to 1 hour and a half. not a big deal at all

i live right outside of Denver. i love it here personally, downtown is fun but its kinda limited if youre not 21. The new lightrail system theyre putting in is gonna go all over the place so it'll be nice. but yea Denver is a sweet place to live so i would reccomend it

just because Ft. Collins sucks compared to Boulder doesn't mean you get to bash Boulder. don't be jealous (Ft. Collins isn't bad, but is no Boulder).

Boulder is sick. It is pricey, so get a good job or a trustfund (joke). The town in really nice, close to skiing, hot women, good food, great access to mountain biking, climbing, hiking, etc, and good nightlife (pearl st, the hill) and weather. Plus, just look around. It is probably one of the most beautiful places to live anywhere. I've lived here my whole life and I love it. people who bash it are just jealous. some of the people here are dicks, but that is the case everywhere. If they bother you than your just being a pussy.

Denver is fun. Being 21 would open up a lot of nightlife, but other than that there isn't much holding you back. It has gotten much nice in the past decade as they developed Lodo. For some reason people in CO tend to give it a lot of crap, but I think it a fun place. It a realatively clean, safe, fun city. People complaing about the smog should go to any map metro area - they ALL have smog.

For a combination of Nightlife, living costs, skiing access, and jobs Denver is hard to beat. It may not have as easy access to skiing as SLC, but Denver's nightlife crushes SLC. Job market is still decent too.

Do you know where the job would be? In Denver or one of the surronding cities - ie. littleton, Lakewood, arvada, etc.etc. the cities surronding denver are typical surburban bores. I would probably make a lot of my decision based upon where I ended up.

iggy, i dont know what boulder you're talking about, but the only boulder, co ive been to was full of A)completely stupid philiosophy majors who think a jar of pennies help upside down is art, B) old ass hippies that were hippies 40 years ago and still think "theyre groovy" but really just smell like fish, and C) the pedalhead/kayaking/lets run 78 miles today triathlete who is so wrapped up in himself that his ego itself knocks you over when he runs pasts. now...dont get me wrong, the town itself might be pretty, but every single resident of that town is going to hell, no doubt about it. you all huff gasoline and bitch about the rain forest and say "hey lets go to PHISH! YEAH!" well i got news for you, phish is dead, you arent your own republic, no one cares if CU has a good football program or not because everyone is too drunk to care, and for last time....BOULDER IS NOT THE CAPITAL OF COLORADO

you never stop talking shit, do you?

haha i didn't realize this thread was that old either. and hey i never claimed that the fort was anything special, it's far from the coolest place in CO, i just think boulder has its very own unique kind of suck.

-Strode

^ oh very much so...id say the fort is waaaaaay better than boulder any day...buts thats also cuz the Fort has some FIIIIIIINE ass women

the roaring fork valley, the gunnison valley and the animas river valley are the dopest places in CO...think about it, roaring fork has the four aspens + close access to summit county, without all the sausage and gayness that is accompanied with summit co....gunnison has crested butte, and the animas has silverton and close access to telluride and wolf creek

you just hang out with shitty people then.

yeah, those people exist in Boulder. it IS boulder, remind you. But not everyone here is a fuckhead, ego driven non-showering save the rainforest hippy. I've lived here along ass time so I think I can judge the people here a little better than you can...Nonetheless the presence of those people in Boulder gives everyone the preconception that we are ALL assholes. Some yes, all no. Those assholes, though, are one of the many things that make Boulder a sick place to live, so let's talk about the assholes.

People here call it the republic because no one in Boulder gives a fuck about the rest of the state (these are the assholes....actually most of Boulder). It is a extremely different place to live then the rest of CO, so I don't know how you could suggest we are and think Boulder is the the "capital" of the state? There is CO and then there is Boulder, which in no way represents the general population of the state. As is apparent here, the whole state thinks we are all just a bunch of egomanics hugging trees.

Being from Boulder always gets an interesting reaction from people who live elsewhere in the state. The majority of this state tends to have extremely different views politcal, religious, economic, etc. The thing is, no one here really cares what people others think. They live and think what they want. That is what makes it Boulder. They are going to keep on pissing off the state as they always have. If they didn't hug trees and animals and saving the rainforest and crap like that it would be no different than any other crappy town anywhere that no ones cares about. That isn't the case though. It is Boulder. Everyone knows it.

All you bitches who talk shit and whin about the rich trustafarians who's egos are capable of knocking you over as the run by need to grow up. Be a man. If someone was an ass to you in Boulder grow some balls and do something about it. You don't though, you all whimp out of town and then talk shit about how the people in Boulder hurt your feelings because he was to busy pretending to be a hippy or running an ungodly distance to give a fuck that you were even there. Boulder is what it is. If you don't like it get the fuck out and stop having your period over it.

Note - sometimes I'm one of those assholes.

denver is sick, i go to university of denver. i have only once driven longer than 1.5 hours to summit county (breck, keystone, a-basin). that was on a snowy saturday morning.... sorry that poor fuck up above is hating on denver but its awesome. there is a light rail system that is cheap and really easy to get downtown and go to bars- great bar scene all over.

the skiing is obviously sick. no question there and its not far no matter what anyone says. if you can go up other than saturday morning and sunday night then you wont drive for longer than an hour and a half.

pm me if you got any questions about denver- i love it and am never moving away.

i like living here, but i hate hippies. they aren't everywhere though as people think. the majority of them seem to live next door to me though. and they're not even hippies. more like hippie posers. they dress the same and smell but have none of the ideals. there are more homeless people in this town than hippies. and it's quite nice in the summer when most of the college kids go away. the greenbelt around boulder is one of the more ingenious city planning tools, too. it's nice to see some open space instead of each suburbia sprawling into the next.

i love colorado. and boulder. but we definately aren't living here for the rest of our lives. it's too expensive, but it's a good town for college life.
