Demo Reel Thoughts

Sorry my internet is terrible right now if someone can embed it for me that would be sweet.

I thought the filming itself was really good, and the way it was put together was good. I would make the title at the beginning more visually pleasing and more professional. Else I thought the real had good variety and was good.

Your "logo" at the end, sucks.

That fake ass aperture thing is literally the dumbest logo ever, not to mention open your eyes, it is fucking everywhere.

Yeah I want to redo the beginning animation with something a lot more elaborate. I just threw that together really quickly so I can get the reel out there for potential jobs and clients to view.

The filming was good but i think you need to move some clips around and take some out. The clip of the kid on the couch drinking and the one where he walks through the pile of cups I thought were out of place compared to the rest of your reel. They didn't real seem to fit. It almost felt like you just threw them in. IMO The clip at 1:17 could be cut out too. Its not the most stable or visually appealing shot. Hope this helps

Appreciate the insight.... The reason for those shots are to show a little bit of variety from the sports aspect.

There's a way to give feedback politely you know, you should try it sometimes it's really not that bad

slow song, with no audio leads to a monotonous forgettable film to me. Good shots but doesn't seem like a unique style to me at all

Appreciate the insight so far. I was trying to go for a more cinematic type reel. As for the style, I just wanted to focus on the shots and showing good shots no crazy editing or fast paced music, something dramatic and catches your eyes with good footage.

As others have said, video looks fantastic. I would fix the opening title immediately. That is not something I would have rushed to get it out to potential employers.

Honestly, if I was an employer, and had 50 demo reels to watch, I probably wouldn't have mad its past that title. the first 5 seconds are the MOST important part, make it catchy.

To sum that up, LEARN AFTER EFFECTS

I have a video job and promise you, while having the video skills is important, if you don't have a basic understanding of after effects to make everything polished, most will look right by you.

I use after effects quite a lot.... It has been awhile so I have been a little rusty. The glitches I cannot seem to fix so I am coming up with a new concept for the intro that isn't just the same as everyone elses.
